Description
Looking through bloodshot eyes,
At this metallic, cold floor.
The demons scream at the tops of their lungs,
But I promised not to let them out anymore.
Their deafening cacophony rises,
From a whisper to a tumultuous roar.
We go with just hearts and minds,
But still we are "The People's Whore."

Trapped like water, in a floating bottle,
Where every other day might be my last,
I catch glimpses of present and future,
But lie forever trapped in the past.
Molded in the eyes of legend,
From honor, courage, and commitment we're cast.
In conflict, some writhe and curse,
While in contentment and preparation, others fast.

Time is so quickly running out,
Each day, we lose more and more.
The people, in their ignorance scream for peace,
Simply because they can't fathom a "just" cause for war.
Some declare we fight to fatten our coffers with oil,
Others divine that our purpose is to settle a decades' old score.
But those outside the light can't realize that we fight for their freedom,
Like we have in the pasts legends, and in modern day lore.

By the light of Heaven,
Soon we'll find our way.
Warrior poets departed,
Carried by her gentle sway,
lie content in their bunks,
Only to rise to another day.
Even the certainty of return,
Is defined by the word: "May."

What matters the reason,
Reason some fleeting beast.
No matter what purpose,
Still we head east.
East to the great desert,
East to where evil dines on it's feast.
East into peril and hatred,
East until the tortures' ceased.
