Beneath my calloused body,Lies a heart - bruised and shattered.
Damaged, sore muscles,
Can't hide how badly they're battered.
Behind each and every tear,
That finds its untimely release,
Are feelings and memories,
That long ago lost their lease.
Underneath every smile,
Lies the biggest lie that can be told,
Though mind and body are young,
Heart and spirit feel tragically old.
In front of the truths revealed above,
Hides a single frayed fragment of rope.
For every tragedy and tear befallen me,
I still manage to find a single ray of hope.

That was written years ago, but for the most part, it still holds true. Many parts of me have changed in the past few years, but I like to think I have done my best to retain the good parts of me.
