I sort of took the complicated route. I used wax paper and sketched out the flower shape then cut it out. I'd place the cut out on the rolled out dough and hand cut out the shape with a knife. It also helped to roll out the cookie dough on the cookie sheet as the leaves tend to tear off easy if you try to transfer it from say the counter to the sheet. That way all you have to do is remove the extra dough from around the cut outs. Then for the frosting it was much easier. I would make a thick black frosting for the outline. Then after that dries you make the other colors in a thinner textured frosting and just pour and let the frosting fill in the spaces and you're done! Almost like painting with numbers! But with frosting. :3
