Fanart Friday for November 23, 2012. (see below how YOU can join in!).This Fanart Friday suggestion was made via Facebook by Kevin Whitney. I’ve been meaning to draw this character for a long time. I’m actually more familiar with Gizmoduck in Darkwing Duck, as I watched (and obsessed over) that show moreso than Duck Tales. That, and because it’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen Giz on DT (since, you know DISNEY NEVER RELEASED SEASON 3 ON DVD!!!!!
) Soooo… yeah. Gizmo is unusually hard to draw. I actually really cannot stand Gizmoduck, but I LOVE the running gag on Darkwing that Gizmoduck is more famous than Darkwing and keeps stealing DW’s thunder. Hah hah. AND I love that episode with Drake and Fenton interacting HOLY CRAP HILARIOUS. Ah. Yes, Giz was better on DWD. Just MHO. Anyway, not the best pic, but not awful either, so… Yay! I’ll probably redraw him in the future with more of my style thrown into the character (you know, with more details and such, hah.) Enjoy

So far there's been three volumes for Duck Tales on DVD here in the States. The five part Super Duck Tales features Fenton and his eventual super powered alter ego GizmoDuck. There's a possibly fourth volume forthcoming this year.

Yeah, here in Canada too, 3 volumes, though I have never seen that 5 parter here! Gosh I hope they just release the last season!

It is basically an origins story for Fenton Crackshell and the rise of Gizmoduck. At the same time, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys up to their usual tricks whereas Scrooge is hard pressed to protect his money bin from them so he eventually hires an accountant - Fenton - master bean counter. Later he orders Gyro to build a security guard with a brain so he makes the gizmoduck suit. Then he flips through a dictionary for an activation word - the word being blatherskite.
I hope we both get whatever episodes we haven't seen on the next release.
Fenton also has a female coworker who has been waiting for him to ask her out though it takes a long while before he works up the courage - being Gizmoduck does wonders for his self-esteem eventually.

OH GOSH, that sounds awesome. It sounds VAGUELY familiar so I MUST have seen it at one time. Nonetheless... I really hope Disney just releases all the remaining volumes of all their series.

I hope so too because there's been too many years since they put out the first half of Gargoyles Season 2. Also the remainder of Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, and TaleSpin.

I like how his beak is much more angular than how it is drawn on the series. I think it complements the tough sleek quality of the suit. Looks like you put a lot of work into the hands, it really makes them look more mechanical and powerful

Gizmoduck! This is phenom. work, and I love the colors! Such a cool character, and I love his "secret words" to activate the suit! He's like the Iron Man of ducks!
