Wasn't going to post these until I finished the whole thing, but I didn't want them to get stale.

I absolutely LOVE How to Train Your Dragon: the characters, the story, and the heart of it. I wanted to do a fanart piece for it of Hiccup and Toothless, my obvious favourites, but because I suck, I had to draw the two pieces separately for it. Upon the completed inking, I stupidly thought, "Hey! This would be awesome as a digital piece! It shouldn't take too long!"

Yeah, that was back when the movie first came out in theatres. The problem with me when I do digital pieces, is that I get WAY too involved in it, trying TOO hard to make it look like if I had just marker coloured it anyway. *sighs* I hate colouring on the computer.

And here we are now, and here's what I have done of it. This is the Toothless portion of the pic, which I think is pretty much finished. I'm happy that you can't tell that I fudged his right wing too bad (I drew him too close to the edge of the paper, so I had to draw the rest of the wing on a separate piece, which is why it looks a little more smooshed). I may add a bit more texture to his skin, I'll see how ambitious I feel. This is supposed to go with a Hiccup picture and he will be bigger than Hiccup obviously in the compilation pic, but for now, he's smaller. ^^ This is at LEAST 50 layers here. I know, 50 layers of black, really? Yeah, really. I get WAY too detailed when I do digital work, and in turn it takes SOO long for me to finish. Meh.

This is a great movie, so you should watch it now that it's out. ^^

I have too many other things I need to get done, so you probably won't see the completed pic until after the new year.

And I didn't upload it to scraps, because I feel it's "complete" enough to be in my main gallery. When I finish the entire pic, it will move to scraps.

Constructive criticism is welcome on the colouring ONLY. The drawing is done and I really don't want to redraw it. Thanks.
