"Is the new recruit ready?" the boss asked. "I need to send the organization some fresh young men ASAP."

"He's spent a month in isolation boss," the grunt replied. "In the white room. We've kept him on very little food, alternated with sufficient portions for submissive behavior. He has been psychologically broken down. Very little resistance remains."

"The last step remains then," the boss said. "The step that will erase Nathan Crawford as he has been forever by rewriting his core personality into that of an obedient subordinate. Bring him to the brainwashing chamber..."

"Yes sir," the grunt responded.

Two men instructed Nathan to get dressed in a black tee shirt and black jeans. Nathan did this with some enthusiasm. The black clothing was the first color besides white he'd seen in weeks. For weeks nothing except white walls, white sheets, white clothes, white foods like grits and crustless bread.

After changing out of his white clothes into black, Nathan was asked to follow.

He was overwhelmed and awed by the sudden assault of colors, leaving the white room for the first time in a month. The colors were all he could find thought for, so the anxiety didn't come until they stopped at a strange looking metal door.

The men opened the door.

"In," they instructed.

Nathan had no will left to run or struggle. It hadn't gotten him anywhere before. There was no escape...

He stepped into the small room, a little larger than a closet.

"I don't think we need to strap him in," one of the grunts said. "He'll stand. Stand right here Nathan."

Nathan stood in the middle of the room. The two grunts left after hitting the switch for the brainwashing program. The humming noise started, and the grunts knew they could easily fall under if they dragged around.
