Description I really hope this is correct cause I am not entirely sure wether this is actually her sona but yeaaaaah, I really like this character and she was fun to draw ovo

So here is a little birthday present for since she drew an awesome icon for me and is a really cool friendo o3o

Happy birthday Izz, I hope you have a great day

Go wish her a happy birthday too, she makes super cute and adorable artworks like my icon for example ^w^

Had a lot of fun trying out this rough painting style again ovo
I love these really rough and raw styles where you can really see the brushstrokes and everything

Oh and some credits:

Izzula the Oshawott belongs to

Pokémon and Oshawott belongs to Nintendo , GameFreak, The Pokémon Company and Creatures

This artwork was made using Painttool Sai

Again mostly my lil painterly sketchbrush and a renderbrush I got from Honrupi cause I love how they blend this roughly ovo

*EDIT: Put a blue-ish line around the higlights on the left side cause they were a bit close to the color of the background otherwise, thanks to for pointing it out!

Cute! I love the colours, the background is really interesting and compliments the foreground very well. Only thing I could possibly fault is his left arm being fairly thinner than his right (I'm assuming it's a he) but it's pretty much unnoticeable. Your shading is ppretty much impeccable. Also, one more thing, this is me being sort of OCD, but the hand/paw, having only two digits drives me a bit crazy. Sorry! I don't know if this is an OC or based of some character, if so, I don't know it, I apologise, but I'd say overall this is a great piece of art.

The pose, color scheme, and shading is all very nice. The image is clear. So, vision would be five stars.

I have never seen another piece like this. The style is unique, and the simple background looks nice with the foreground. I like the use of a white outline too. The originality is 5 stars.

Your technique is astounding. The shading and lighting are both very dynamic, the use of a sparkly appearance here and there adds a nice effect to it. One thing I've noticed, though, is that the outlines differ from place to place, such as the hands having a different color outline, while the shell has a white background, yet not the string. The eye that is open doesn't have a pupil or darker area in the center, but that's up to you. The star coming from the wink is very well done. You've added lots of detail. I would give you 4.5 star rating for technique.

All in all, this piece is amazing. The background color compliments the front design. I like how you also made pink clouds for that. The white lines cutting across the background adds a nice touch for a modern portrait design. I give the impact a rating of 5 stars.

Keep up the amazing work! ^^

the highlights on the left side of the head is a bit to close in hue to the background. i would suggest either darkening the background slightly or continuing that light blue line you have on the ear on the same side. other than that, the image seems fine. i like you choice colors. it help convey the the time of day

silverdragon360 In reply to Steve-does-art [2017-04-12 22:13:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmm

I kinda want to know like, the basic layout, for example, is it like cell shading where you use a different color(for example, like blue) to shade? If you know what I mean, sorry it's confusing ^^'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Steve-does-art In reply to silverdragon360 [2017-04-15 19:00:53 +0000 UTC]

So you wanna know how that works layer wise or what colors you should use for it? 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

silverdragon360 In reply to Steve-does-art [2017-04-15 19:59:29 +0000 UTC]

Kinda, yeah!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Steve-does-art In reply to silverdragon360 [2017-05-02 20:45:42 +0000 UTC]

Well the way I do this painted style is basically just a normal colored sketch that I shade like I roughly shade with either one or more overlay layers which are either multiply or shade layers for the shading and screen and luminosity layers for the highlights and then I just make a new layer where I paint over it using the colorpicker and a kinda rough paintingbrush.
All the layers of the sketch that lays underneath look like this:
And then the renderlayer looks like this (not the final one in this case cause I merged them at some point and painted over that then):

To the colors I use for shading and highlighting: Well I just kinda eyeball them, I put the layers up, shade everything and then just play around with the colors till something that looks good and makes sense comes out :3
You don't need to know any color theory for that, it's basically just gut feeling

I hope that this helped you and if you still have more questions feel free to ask!
Also apologies for the late reply ;o;
