This is one of my most ambitious stamps yet. I actually used all the logos and had them all come up in order to make this stamp.

Basketball has become very boring since the end of the '90s and the ratings are falling. Don't get me wrong, I used to love the Magic vs. Bird rivalry but you don't see anything like that anymore! In fact, the NBA hasn't recorded a profit since the end of the 20th Century! The league was losing over $300 million a year according to Forbes between 2006 and 2010, and viewership has fallen by nearly 56% since 1996. Even with that "spike" that happened in the 2010 NBA Finals, do you know it got only half the ratings of the 1987 NBA Finals?

Why? Several reasons. For one thing, the "team players" aren't as good as they used to be. Jordan used to pass to Pippen who'd pass to Rodman who'd pass back to Jordan. Now you're lucky if you see one freakin' pass before a ball is shot. Basketball has, literally, created a generation of people who think they can be the entire team, such as Kobe and Lebron.

A second thing is that the NHL actually gives most of their teams a fighting chance but not the NBA. Do you know that in basketball, since 1947, 33 out of 65 titles have been awarded to either the Lakers or the Celtics? That's right. Only two teams. And if you count that little stint in the '90s when the Bulls won six times, that's three teams with 39 of those championships -- sixty percent of the titles were won by THREE teams. And to make things worse, count in the number of times one of those three made the finals, and you'll get close to 75%! No wonder only eight teams are turning a profit according to the NBA.

A third thing that makes basketball an easy target is that in 2010, the average number of fouls called per game is 44! Forty-four! That's one foul every 66 seconds! It's no wonder there's always a break in the action. The game has practically no rhythm as a result of fouls being called so damn often.

One more thing? People tell me about how basketball has all those exciting last second shots, but let's be honest. Any time in the last 24 seconds of any quarter are ALWAYS going to have last-second shots. When a hockey goal is scored in the last minute, it's really a thing of beauty

The only thing I'd watch b-ball for anymore is the cheerleaders, err "dance squad", or whatever they call them. Give me ice hockey any time.

Some cities, including Detroit, Philly and even Boston and New York, already have adopted hockey as their third most popular sport, pushing basketball to 4th place. I say make this national. The NHL gives us a fast, exciting game that requires a TEAM to play it. The game is fast and furious and it's a lot of fun to watch and be at the game. So let's just make ice hockey the third sport in America. I say it's about time.

Football will always be #1 in America's hearts, and 2nd will go to baseball for a long time, as it's an American tradition, but what's wrong with having some really trained athletes who have to stand on ICE SKATES, let alone play, as the 3rd most popular sport and let those overpaid whiny bastards that are making the NBA bleed red ink become the 4th sport?
