Description Matanuska Glacier, Alaska. This shot was done handheld, as it would have been a real pain to lug a tripod onto a slippery glacier, even with crampons. This shot wasnt planned at all and just kinda worked out nicely.

Really great shot of it Steven!Β  Β  Been to this glacier quite a few times when spending time in Palmer while living up in Fairbanks. Out of all 50 states I've spent time in, Alaska is and always WILL be my #1 state. My kind of country.

nice. i'd live up there if not for the snow, cold, and darkness during most of the year beautiful state though. awesome in summer. i may have to find some land up there someday and build a small house for summer in my older years.

Well, actually the darkness is only during the winter months. Spring and Autumn sunrise and sunsets are pretty much the same as Seattle's...and then of course during the summer months you'll have the sun coming up around 2:30am and setting 22 hours later around 12:30am (at least it's that way up in Fairbanks). Β  But yes, it's wild and beautiful up there for sure. I miss it.

Here's a shot I took of Matanuska Glacier with my old Canon AE-1 35mm many years before the invention of the digital camera...so I know it's not great, but it sure was a gorgeous view nonetheless.

Thank you, glad you liked it. Β  Well the whites in the original print (taken in 1990) is much better...this is just a scanned copy of the actual print I did back in 2001. Β  Have a great week Steve!
