B+W is the brand name for the filter.. German made by Schneider. CPL is a circular polarizing filter, used to remove reflections off non-metalic surface. Use that in water scenes, mean that you can see through the water (depending how clean the water itself). Cheers buddy.

wonderful photo, but as I am just entering the SLR community (and thus all those filters and such) I am confused as to what function your filter had exactly for it is not one I am familiar with and with such a brilliant end result from it with such wonderful colors

hey there thank you first of all..the CPL was just used to remove reflections off the water and allow longer exposure (+2 stops) at f/8. CPL works wonder too during the day..it preserves the color saturation washed out by the UV.

May not work too well at the 7.30 in the night but maybe i was just too lazy to take it off.

hmmmm, very interesting, i will most certainly have to look at buying one of these filters!
so it removes the reflection off the water but it dosnt remove the saturated color of the water? even when that color has been taken from the sky? most interesting and awsome

another question if you dont mind, but why did you wish for a longer exposure out of this picture, was it to pick up the water better?
