Description From the new comic, The Umbrella Academy. The Conductor.

For those of you not familiar with the comic, it's published by Dark Horse Comics and written by Gerard Way from the rock band My Chemical Romance, (MCR, BTW, was taken from a fake ad in the background of one of the panels of a little book called Watchmen).

The comic follows a dis-functional family who come together after their adopted father dies. You can probably guess that the children are far from... normal.

If you liked Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol or Mike Mignola's The Amazing Screw-On Head, you'll like this book.

The pin-up is actually inspired by some of Mignola's work. I love that he does these victorian-era types of portraits for his characters.

MCR is actually from a book by Irving Welsh called Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance

To tell the truth, I've been trying to find it myself. But everytime I sit down with the book - I start re-reading it... It's addictive.

I don't recall seeing that fake ad in Watchmen. Mind telling me what page? I'm interested

Awesome awesome AWESOME picture by the way. It's really nicely portrayed. I detect a hint of Mignola-ness. Props to you dude.

Oh no, don't go to all that trouble please. I'm sure it'll be something that'll just pop out when I'm re-reading it. But thanks anyways

You've captured the essences of both Umbrella Academy and Screw-on Head very nicely here.

I've always been fond of Mignola's portrait style pinups and covers, and you're good at recreating that.

Thank you. Mignola is, without a doubt, my favorite artist. I love his old Vcitorian-era style he used on the Jenny Finn mini...

Man, you are killing me here. I'm lucky to get one drawing out a week.

Though I'm not familiar with the work this is a solid piece.

It's (Umbrella Academy) a bit hard to get into... But when someone says their inspirations for their work are Mike Mignola and Grant Morrison, I've gotta at least give them a try... I don't know if I've mentioned this or not - but I'm a bit of a Mignola fan. Just a bit...

Ha! I know. I surpirse a lot of people with that little tid-bit. Also am fond of an artist by the name of Tim Bradstreet.
