It reminds me of a sea urchin or the underside of a spiney starfish... the trees, veins. I like !

hey did you trace each tree? How did you get it to be so even? Did you use a protractor initially to divide the circle up into equal segments? I make pottery and to make this gecko bowl, I used a compass to draw a circle divided into quarters on a piece of paper, then I used a string lying on the piece of paper, and set my pot on it, then pulled the string up on the side of the pot and drew a line on the pot to divide it into segments.
then I drew a gecko silhouette on a piece of paper, and traced its outline 4 times on the pot, flipping it each time. Here is the result:
GECKO POT -- red gecko

GECKO POT -- brown gecko

Oh! Each tree is unique! I thought they were identical. It's a beautiful piece of work. I need to make myself a pattern so that I can more easily decorate bowls and curved edges pots and vessels that I make into sections to decorate. I do all my work by hand. I love it. I love the intimate nature with the earth that working with clay offers. Indeed, it offers an intimate connection with Earth, Water, Air and Fire. It is an awesome craft. It connects the artist's soul with the eternity of the elements.

It must be very satisfying working with clay. I imagine it is not easy, but I see the attraction of working with the elements in this way.

it is awesomely satisfying. I've been a 2-dimensional artist my entire life. It is mind-blowing what you can do with clay. Working a plastic substance into a form, then firing it into an eternal fossil that will outlive hundreds of generations -- thass damn cool,yo!
