This is a Tim Burtonverse filmography collage: part 5, Frank Welker's Sparky from Frankenweenie (2012). Johnny Depp's Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows (2012). Tim Burton's Van Helsing from Witching Hour "Vampires Kiss/Blood Inside" (2012). Amy Adams' Margaret Keane from Big Eyes (2014). Eva Green's Alma LeFay Peregrine from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) and Jumbo from Dumbo (2019).

Tim Burton directed Frankenweenie (2012) starring Frank Welker's Sparky. Danny Elfman composed the musical score. Disney released it in theaters nationwide. Sony's Hotel Transylvania (2012) starring Adam Sandler as a goofy Dracula was considered family friendly fun while there was a backlash against Frankenweenie (2012) as if it's too dark for a Disney movie and too scary for kids. Frankenweenie (2012) was also Oscar snubbed by the Academy Awards.

Tim Burton directed Dark Shadows (2012) starring Johnny Depp's Barnabas Collins. Danny Elfman composed the musical score. Warner chairman Barry Meyer and Warner President Jeff Robinov released it in theaters nationwide. But there was a backlash against Dark Shadows as if it's both too light and comedic for Dark Shadows and too dark and graphic for Dark Shadows. It was Oscar snubbed by the Academy Awards. There was a big backlash against Johnny Depp over the 2016 Amber Heard abuse allegations. Tim Burton said, "Any story I read about anybody I know in the press, I always take it with a grain of salt and everything ends up working itself out. But I love him [Johnny Depp]."

Tim Burton directed Big Eyes (2014) starring Amy Adams' Margaret Keane. Danny Elfman composed the musical score. The Weinstein Company released it in theaters nationwide but it was Oscar subbed by the Academy Awards. There was a big backlash against the Weinstein Company when it was revealed in 2017 that Harvey Weinstein was a rapist. Helena Bonham Carter said about Harvey Weinstein, "I was aware certain actresses had had sex with him, but I thought it was consensual."

Tim Burton directed Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) starring Eva Green's Alma LeFay Peregrine. Danny Elfman composed the musical score. 20th Century Fox released it in theaters nationwide. But there was a big backlash against Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children as if it's somehow racist because black Samuel L. Jackson was the bad guy and it wasn't staring black and Asian kids as the peculiar children and even Tim Burton's defense of the movie was vilified by the press. Tim Burton said, "Nowadays, people are talking about it [racial diversity in films] more. Things [roles] either call for things, or they don’t [meaning certain roles either call for certain racial actors, or they don't faithfully suit the character]. I remember back when I was a child watching The Brady Bunch and they started to get all 'politically correct,' like, 'Okay, let’s have an Asian child and a black' [the "Kelly's Kids" (1974, season 5) episode], I used to get more offended by that [The Brady Bunch's "social consciousness" was superficial, wooden, self-righteous and preachy parenting], than just... I grew up watching blacksploitation movies [Shaft (1971), Super Fly (1972), Foxy Brown (1974) etc.], and I said, 'That’s great,' I didn’t go like, 'Okay, there should be more white people in these movies.'..." Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was Oscar snubbed by the Academy Awards.

Tim Burton directed Dumbo (2019) starring Jumbo. Disney released it in theaters nationwide. But there was a backlash against Dumbo directed by Tim Burton as if it's too dark for Dumbo and too sad for kids. Tim Burton said, "Any kind of movie I do, I'm 'too dark.' The whole point is you need a bit of that sadness and melancholy to go somewhere. You want to feel some connection. I tried to keep the emotions real and not overdo it too much. The thing that’s dark is the animals in captivity. I’ve been through this my whole life with previews. I have my own simple way. I see what I can get. I’m all for real answers for what’s working with comedy and laughs, and what’s not. But when it starts going down the dark path, it can be misleading. When you get onto tonal things: 'Batman is too dark.' 'This Batman is lighter than the first.' How can it be lighter and darker? If somebody asked me or the kids I grew up with, ‘what do you remember about Dumbo?’ It’s him getting wasted, getting drunk on champagne. Politically, that’s stuff you can’t do these days. I tried to figure out how to organically do it with this one, seeing more real context. This seemed like a beautiful way to get into it. Maybe I’ve been to Vegas too much. I’ve hallucinated without drugs before, it can happen! " Dumbo (2019) was Oscar snubbed by the Academy Awards.
