No, you were not the only one who noticed that these two episodes reference a lot from Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

Did anyone else notice that Wan also got his bending powers in the exact order of the benders who become avatar:fire, air, water and earth.
Now we also know the plan Unolok has in store. I cannot wait for the lemur spirit toreturn, see Korra and be like "stinky? you turned into a girl!"

Jeez! This episode was absolutely stunning! Great landscapes, great music (hello Avatar soundtrack) and yeah, Wan and Mula definitely made me think about Ashitaka and YakuruΒ and also the spirits which seem to come straight out from Spirited Away!)

And princess Mononoke was the first movie by Miyazaki I watched. Got me back then and still get my everytime I watch it <3
