Your work is thought provoking.
I'd ramble on and on about what comes to mind but I have the feeling I might bore you with the innate details. But I will anyway because I like rambling, it's fun. The closed eyes are serene to me - feeling just by being, indulging just by knowing. Reminds me of quiet moments spent deep in thought - pondering everything and while you don't exactly get anything out of it, that simplicity of mere indulgent thought is a difficult thing to come by. At least in this world, currently.
Nice work as usual.

+there is a lot going on here, mentally. lots of personal references, and that feeling of indulging in thought, or savoring a memory, is one of the main ones.
there is another version of this, a dry-point etching. her body looks much like yours.+

+hmmm...it's a long story. basically, you use a shiny polished copper plate and cover it with a varnish made with wax, resin, lampblack and other stuff. this is applied thinly over the plate to protect it from the corrosion, which is how the lines will get etched onto the plate. once you have this, you draw on the plate with a pointed instrument, be it an stylus or a nail or whatever. this scratches the varnish revealing the plate underneath, which becomes visible again. once finished with the drawing, you protect the rest of the plate with tape and submerge it on a strong acid solution. it will eat away at the exposed parts of the plate, etching the drawing and leaving the varnished areas untouched. you remove the varnish and voila! you have an etching. to print that, you warm the plate and rub ink into the lines. then, the surface of the plate is rubbed clean, leaving ink only in the etched lines. moistened, heavy paper is set over the plate on a printing press (a big plate that passes between two rollers). the paper gets pushed into the lines by the pressure, thus removing the ink from the plate...presto! you have a print. this is only a basic outline, there are many techniques that give many different effects...told you it was a long story.+

This was extremely useful, thank you. I had worked with copper plates before, but without all the solutions and whatnot. I did not realize there was so much involved, and now the carefully etched box that I worked on is a rusty mess. The shame.

+many people don't get to work plate etchings because of all the equipment you need: air extractors for the acid trays, safety equipment, stoves for the plates, etc, etc....it's really beautiful and unique, though. i've been through your gallery and i think your work would really work that way. try it if you have the chance.+

+be sure to do your research on safety and proper handling of corrosive liquids...most of the stuff can be done in a properly ventilated garage or, in good weather, outdoors. problem is, for printing you will need a calcographic press. if you have access to one (some printmaker studios will rent studio space by the hour or on monthly fees, you can do the plate process at home and print them there which could be cheaper) you could set up the rest of the gear with a little help from your friends, as the song says. feel free to drop me a note if you need any help.+

+bingo. there's a full-body version of this one where it shows more clearly. looks a bit like water, but it's about energy and the way it flows from the heart of the figure, taken from a phisics book...you've earned yourself a lucky coupon.+

This is great. The hair especially. I wish I had more to say other than this is cool, like offer some constructive criticism or something, but I don't know much about plate etchings.

I'm going to favorite it because it's a plate etching. I love plate etchings and this happens to be a pretty good one besides.

very fucking nice ... its good to see some traditional art ... especially some plate etchings ... i like the high contrast shadows that really intensify the outline of the eye sockets ... definitely a favorite
