it feels like you could have made this book, a book filled with gestures made in your way!
i especially like the title!by the way:
i dont think there should be something in the hand. have you ever thought about making a book?

Well, the book is about the fishermen who leave their homes and families behind to make a living.

Maybe something nautical would be appropriate...something along the lines of a heart tattoo, or a clipper, or a compass...maybe on a background of an old map fragment with those fishy monsters they used to paint in...

you can cut her skin where she is doing the heart shape and glue that piece of stomach on that upper corner.
she's giving a piece of her..

I've been thinking about the upper left hand corner and I just can't come up with any suggestions. I feel like the design in the center of the book is competing with yours a little too much.

As for your figure, I love the assortment of papers you've chosen. The multiplication dress is sassy as is the map for her hair!

I suggest a sun or moon or star or bunny

maybe the arm moving from the left corner to the other hand to
make the heart complete, show the move. the hand could stay in the same form...

yeah, i understand. Like a simple shape or something. a heart would be too much but what would fit?
