Description Whether you are a Mar-Vell or Carol fan, this headband is a fun way to show off your love for Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel! This is one of the first comic related headbands I designed but I was a little nervous about my amateur sewing skills at the time so I had my mother-in-law make it. She showed me how she did it step by step so I will try to explain it and answer any questions that any of you might have. I will make a better tutorial when I make a new version of this pattern and make a new headband. I do apologize for the crappy pictures too! I will take better ones for the updated pattern.

Pattern Notes:
- This pattern assumes that you know a little bit about sewing and about making seam allowances.
- The pattern shows how to position the chevron and star onto the headband in the top picture. Cutout the fabric according to the later figures in the pattern. For the red piece, take the cutout for the full side bottom side and cut out two solid pieces. You will put the part over the red fo the top.
- Do not feel like you have to stick with the pattern as it. Alter it as you want so the headband can look as you want.
- If you do not feel comfortable with hand sewing the star out of cloth, feel free to purchase an applique or patch to use instead. This is your headband so do what you want with it!
- The pattern includes a blue block that can be used for an elastic band closure but we decided not to do it when we made it. She freehanded the ties for the headband thus they are not in the pattern.

Materials used:
Fabric - cotton (red, blue, yellow)
Thread - all purpose (red and yellow)
Interfacing

Step 1 - Cut out the pattern and the fabric. For the ties she made them long enough to tie in a bow in the back. For the yellow chevron, just cut out a straight band.
Step 2 - Sew the red and blue parts of the top main part of the headband together. You will put the blue over the red to cover where you want the star to be. Do not sew the bottom solid red part to it yet.
Step 3 - Take the yellow band and make the chevron. Then sew it to the top main part poisitioning it over where the red and blue parts meet. The black lines over the chevron in the pattern show where she used a single stitch to secure it to the headband.
Step 4 - Sew the star together and then sew onto the main top section of the headband. Position it over the chevron in the pattern.
Step 5 - Take the two main parts and the sewing interface and sew them together inside out but leave the ends open and allow enough space to put it right side out.
Step 6 - Sew the ties and then attach them to the headband. When you do this you should do a single stitch round the edge of the main part of the headband so the ends of the headband and the ties are closed.

This should get you a nice looking Captain Marvel inspired headband. I hope I explained this well enough for you to understand.

Other notes about the headband:
I think it looks great and I love it but I wish the bottom of the headband where it goes behind my ears was thiner. I will be working on a newer pattern for this and hopefully get some progress pictures in order to explain it.

Happy crafting to all of you and if you make one, please send me a picture so I can see it!
