Description Alright, I promise this is the last time I'm going to spruik my Black Cat picture

I just thought it might make for an interesting comparison to put the full progression of my drawing from start to finish in the one spot.

By all means let me know your thoughts on it

And for those that are interested in seeing the individual pieces in their full glory then...

Nice progressions. I still like how it started, smooth and creamy lines that pencils give. I'm trying to figure out how to do that stuff when color is involved.

It's actually been interesting to see what people think on this one as everyone seems to have a different favourite.

I'm trying to figure out how to get the smooth look with colour as well

Well i wouldthink if you're coloring with colored pencil, drop the inks. Digital isn't required to have inks if the pencils look good. If your pencils are finished, you can just darken it like hell and brighten the whites, and it makes instant inks (a lot of the pros do it that way in the comic field).

Colored pencils, just color the blackswith the black colored pencil. I know inks keep it easy tostay inthe lines, but you have such an awesome look with the pencils, but the inks make it less so (black cat's cleavage in particular, that's why i like the pencils because pencilsare easy to control). I understand inks, and i learned the comic inks before i learned anything else, and is why i appreciate your skills (it's hard). Try it out sometime. Inks are good if you're doing comic pages since it takes forever to do colors if you don't have linework that is easy to color. You do things like covers, which if you take your pencils and PS them, instant inks without the "can i keep my hand steady on this part that i drew well?...damnit...i hate this pen"

Lol. I hate inks.

Funnily enough I enjoy doing the pencils and inks more that anything else. Colouring to me is a bloody mission.

I see what you are saying though and would probably agree with you.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what is the most comfortable for me when doing my pictures.

Same boat for me. I like how a lot of works can form, but it's like the coloring portion is always a pain in the ass, so i'm alwayslooking for a way to make it less of a pain. More like the pencils, is what i want.

Pencil work I really enjoy doing, it seems so much easier for me.
I find doing the inks bloody stressful as the is no room for mistakes.

That's why i was sayin just do your pencils clean, and then adjustthe filters. It makes inks clean and fast, without the stress of a shaky hand. I can't tell you howmany times i went and inked a face on one of my girls and watched the lines bleed together...

I might just have to give that a shot when I finish my next pencil drawing.
I need to experiment a bit more to find what works best for me, what I am doing now is very time consuming.

I have ruined so many picture with bloody bleeding ink or a slight slip of the hand.

I have seen a lot of great work done with the pencil technique i'm talking about. It's always comic stuff too, so i think it would wor perfectly. You can get those crazy movement lines really easily, as well as those long parallel lines that you see sometimes. If you havethe file, go in with your black cat pencils you have saved and tone them, and then put them in the digital file where your inks were, see if it looks good?

Ohh, there is some absolutely stunning pencil work about.
Ideally that is the part I really want to get down pat... anything else is just gravy.

I might just revisit that Black Cat picture when I have the time.
I was so over it though by the time I finished it.

It's good to get people's thoughts on the whole process and I'm finding different people prefer different versions.
