Description Just a picture I did of Supergirl and Superman, coloured with pencil

This piece was inspired by the late and very great Michael Turner's work on the Superman & Batman comic.

I also have a version which I tinkered with a bit more; [link]

Really top-quality work here. You've got the details of the costumes perfectly, in particular the S-patches and capes.

Looks like they're off to save the world, once again... Poor folks can't seem to take days off, can't they?

A tiny nitpick though, maybe it's just me but the ears look a little strange, far as I'm concerned. Supergirl's in particular looks like it was almost chopped off in a brutal battle.

Regardless, this is great work that deserves full credit. Well done mate, and keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot again mate
I am so glad the the "S" patches turned out alright, they were surprisingly a bit more difficult than I expected.

I had to have another look and I can totally see what you mean about their ears

Yep, the "S" patches were beautiful, no need to worry about them there.

But yes, your ears did need improving in that case. No matter, you could always re-draw it.

I decided i would go take some time to comment;

I saw the thumb and didn't need to read the caption to know it was a turner style; that's a great thing. Poses rock, and superman's face especially looks awesome.

Well I do appreciate you taking the time to leave some insightful comments mate

I'm a bit up and down about this picture... not really sure if I like this one or not

I like it. Supergirl is masculine but she is abit too ripped here. Then again, the man of steel is super buff. I just always figured kryptonians were just super powered already,so super girl could just be fit andreally feminine, but still superman strong. Superman just has huge muscles...well because that's how he should look if he's superman. It's like spiderman isn't too huge, but still throws a car pretty good.

I hear ya on the Super people.
Then again I don't think Superman would have the same appeal if he was build like a bundle of twigs while holding up the side of a building.

I quite like how Spider-Man works, looks like a nimble fellow (as he probably should) yet can still juggle a car or two.

Yeah, the skinny guy wouldn't look good on him.

I like the spiderman comics since there are different guys. Spiderman is nimble but not as strong as something like Carnage, who is also nimble. Then you have venom...who looks like he can chew through tungsten.

Personally I think poor old Spidey has the best line up of villains... there's a little bit of everything in there from Dr Ock & Mysterio to Rhino and Venom.

Venom and Carnage would have to be faves of mine though... they're always so brutal.

I like those two as well. I never got into the other comic villans, since they don't seem to fit as well.

Yeah, there are certainly some lame bad guys out there.
Maybe I'm a little twisted myself but I have always preferred the villains over the heroes. Shit when I was a kid I always used to cheer on Megatron to whoop Opptimus' ass. lol

Lol!

I perfer Lady Death and the ultimate; Spawn. There were some bad ass villans in the Spawn series, like that bull creature.

Mmmmm Lady Death

I really got into Spawn way back when... I think I know the bull dude you are talking about... I think it was Tremor??
I actually did a painting of him years ago that I think I still have stashed somewhere

Freaky-Scribbles In reply to StingRoll [2010-11-19 11:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! Tremor was bad ass., I used to have the figures, Tremor, Violator, Mutant Clown, Apex, and also Alien Spawn.

I really love how you did Supergirl and Superman. Your style is great, and her eyes are just lovely. I think this is definitely one of my favorites that you have posted in your gallery! Great job!

Thanks

I was actually a little surprised how this turned out to be honest. It's one of the few pictures I have done where I am nearly happy with it

I'm glad that you're happy with it, or at least, nearly happy with it! I know the feeling, though. I think there is only one piece on here that I'm legitimately happy with, and the rest I think are rubbish.

StingRoll In reply to PeacexLovexHope [2010-07-07 06:49:37 +0000 UTC]

I think I operate on the same sort of lines as you, very rarely am I actually happy with my work... it can always be better

PeacexLovexHope In reply to StingRoll [2010-07-07 19:05:03 +0000 UTC]

I think even the masters had to feel that way about their artwork. There's a quote from Michaelangelo that says "I am still learning." And I think that's true, you're still learning after each piece, and you use that to gradually keep getting better.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StingRoll In reply to PeacexLovexHope [2010-07-08 00:07:56 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh Michaelangelo... I taught him everything he knew

But seriously I couldn't agree more, whenever I start something new I am taking something I picked up from my last picture across to help me out

PeacexLovexHope In reply to StingRoll [2010-07-08 03:03:07 +0000 UTC]

And that really is the best time of learning, I believe. Being able to learn through practice and patience really is the best way.

I concur.

I have only recently just started getting back into drawing so hopefully I'll be able to refine what I am doing quite a bit.

PeacexLovexHope In reply to StingRoll [2010-07-08 03:58:15 +0000 UTC]

I think you will be able to. You're already off to a great start, and I know you'll just keep improving! I can't wait to see what you'll be doing a year from now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StingRoll In reply to PeacexLovexHope [2010-07-08 04:51:46 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure you'll be able to let me know a year down the track if my stuff has gotten better... or if it has gone down hill.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PeacexLovexHope In reply to StingRoll [2010-07-08 05:49:42 +0000 UTC]

I highly doubt they'll go down hill. And I will be there to let you know! I will keep tabs on ya!
