And another one of those pics for MLPonline, this time the market at dawn.I'm not really happy with this one, mostly because the lightsource was kinda forced on me (because the sunset will be in the background in the next picture, the sunrise had to be behind the viewer in this one).
Still, there's Fluttershy and a Pinkie-copter, so that kinda makes up for me not having too much fun working.

I REALLY like the texture and detail with the lighting on the canvas tents. I'm also drawn to how you did the gradient in the sky. I know these are probably mundane aspects of the artwork for you but I've always liked simple things in art. This definitely reminds me of some of Brom's work.

I can make widescreen versions, but i either have to cut out off part of the picture or add some really big borders on the sides for that. I'll just try around tomorrow and put it in my scrapbook.

Colgate doesnt wear a sattle, and colgaates hair is blue not purple.

Well, the lighting is done in Photoshop, but it would be possible to get it done in Illustrator, with vectors - it would most likely kill my pc, though, because Illustrator is just not build for subtile color-changes on that scale.
But other than that it's really just a question of translating brushing-with-a-tablet to gently-blurring-vectors.

Is there any reading material on this lightly burring vectors thing? I've been searching how to do it for a while and cant seem to find it, best I know is just work on subtle lighting at full res, which kind of defeats the point of it being a vector lol.

I wouldn't know, i pretty much gave up on blurring and "special effects" in Illustrator because my pc just couldn't handle it. But from the little i gathered here and there, the prefered method for this kind of shadow/light effect would probably be a gradient mesh.
