stones in liquid amber... nothing like a stream to wash the pain away. You should try dipping your bare feet in a shallow, pebbled river... I did for the first time when i was 5 years old and i will never forget that experience.

Send my best to your pops.

walked in a river to take a few shots today- comfort wasn't on my mind tho, syringes were
(the water felt good tho- runs down from the rockies i think)
will do

markeee In reply to stipend [2006-10-09 05:19:10 +0000 UTC]

syringes? hahaha! that bad? I'm gald people over here snort and sniff more that they stick needles (not that i have anything to do with that, i swear to god )

but i'll keep in mind not to remove my sandals in water if ever i visit. My sister will be moving next year to Florida.

i've seen them on sidewalks by the river before- so, naturally, i feared stepping on one in the river.
cheaper not to same here (lol, a friend quit smoking when he was between jobs- couldn't afford the habit)
not sure what florida's like, never been- hope she likes it (disneyworld )

Good for him!

My dad smokes three packs of Marlboro Red a day. But he never drinks, not even beer (cuz he'll get nasty rashes and has to get alcohol allergy shots if he does)

I never smoked a stick in my life but i drink like a fish (on occassion, and there are plenty of occassions ) but never drive at the same time. I sleep over, hehehehe!

What a pair we'd make, me and my dad, hehehe!

stipend In reply to markeee [2006-10-09 20:15:19 +0000 UTC]

you could write a story, call it 'habits'
set it in a busy city- a small apartment in gutted high-rise,
a father alone, his love passed away- his second wife left him.
he smokes alone much of the day, sitting at a table in a dimly-lit room,
his only source of 'entertainment'- an unfinished crossword puzzle and regrets.
the son foots the rent, "why can't you get a job!?" home from the bar after a complicated shift.
too much to drink, too many responsabilities- his father all that remains of what was once a happy family, long ago.
he loves his father, can't bare to throw him out. the man endured great loss and pulled the pair through many tough times;
but it was becoming too much.
his father's once enduring spirit was finally broke...

Wow, that is quite sad... do you write short stories? I don't but i enjoy reading them. If so, send me some of your stories through email.

Yeah, me and my dad have our yelling moments, but mostly because of the use of which car. He's so protective over his own vehicle, and sometimes, i'd "borrow" it for a spin. He smokes a lot cuz he's executive of a multi-national corp. I drink cuz it's a habit i developed in college. hehehe. BUT, now that i'm working, i only drink after a rough day in court, a shot or two just to get the edge off. I'm a litigation lawyer and teach part time at our State University. Drinking a lot now wouldn't be too nice on my records.

stipend In reply to markeee [2006-10-11 05:24:09 +0000 UTC]

i do, be glad to
"he smokes a lot cuz he's executive of a multi-national corp" seen that again and again in flicks/books- smoke follows the stressed (lol, they're litterally steaming all the time)
a lawyer?! the firm is one of my favorite movies (lawyers are fascinating, and i suppose that's because lawyers are the world anymore)
yeah- watch that drinking habit (liver, driving)
wouldn't want to lose a friend over a tonic
(i commend your teaching too; too often i've found teachers to be those who can't do- it's always nice to stumble across a proff. who's professionally successful/knowledgeable and giving of their time)

Thanks buddy. haven't had an accident since the first time i got behind the wheels (thank god)

Hahaha! Exactly... those can, do. Those who can't, teach. But i haul ass in court, no question about that Being in litigation at 27 is an advantage. Judges will be more lenient because they feel you're too young. Other lawyers won't work as hard against you because they think you don't have it together. ^^ but i give them hell... i usually handle family cases and Maritime Law (shipping accidents, etc.)

what's keeping you busy, bro?

stipend In reply to markeee [2006-10-24 06:03:38 +0000 UTC]

"haven't had an accident since the first time i got behind the wheels" good to hear, let's keep that record
sounds fun (seriously) i'll bet there's really no high quite like a favorable verdict (seeing your hard work prosper); i have a jury summons so i'll finally be able to see the courts at work in an actual case (well... if they don't kick me off)

busy? still figuring life out... frustrated.

markeee In reply to stipend [2006-10-27 05:51:32 +0000 UTC]

"busy? still figuring life out... frustrated" ahhh...

Don't worry bro. we all have those moments of frustration. And i am trying hard myself to figure out what life is all about. I can tell you are too, given the depth of your replies. In many levels, you and me both think alike.

I think jury duty is exciting, if your have an exciting case. But it could also be deathly boring too. Especially if there are plenty of documentary matters that you have to sift through. You're going to make a great juror, being intelligent and all. We don;t have a jury system here in my country. Only the judge to convince, so, in a way, it is easier here. Send word soon what happens to your jury service.

"we all have those moments of frustration." good to be reminded of such
"In many levels, you and me both think alike." cheers! i believe we do
"in a way, it is easier here." ah, we do that too sometimes (for "small" issues, small claims court, etc.)
"Send word soon what happens to your jury service." will do ('tis getting closer)
