How did the smallest Enterprise end up there? Caught in a time anomaly, perhaps? And I'm guessing all her crew died.

how about, an NX starship, say, the NX-03, was lost due to a warp engine malfunction at warp, poisoning the interior while systems kept running, this is it's long dead husk, having used all it's fuel and then drifting through space, slowly losing speed until it came to a stop way out here, where the USS Prometheus was operating hundreds of years later.

If it were a lifeless husk, the nacelles wouldn't still be glowing.

Haha, probably! Or old (upgraded) ships are still operating in the 24th century, but only for trading missions or something like that, so that the larger ships can focus on bigger missions! However, I must say that I like the time anomaly idea!
