I do like the idea of these two. The first time I read Hunger Games and I read the scene with these two, I wanted them to be together.

I always thought Gale and Madge might have something going on 'behind the scenes'. I think Gale knew deep down he'd never get Katniss, no matter what he did, and would have somehow ended up being with Madge.
Since she died I kinda hope Gale and Johanna would have gotten together at some point after the war..

I know, but I just didn't want it to be true
I just wanted to believe she made it to the Capitol. This is what Katniss believes happens first. Near the end of the book she finds out for certain that she is gone. She talks to a guy called Thom (I think that is his name) who is shovelling the ashes.
I did actually know that she did pass away though. I was just being silly
