To show the sprites better.
Save a different version of it, then do CTRL+W and change it to 300 or 400.
It'll retain it's dimensions right and be much larger (Learned that myself but never got to use it...)

I might give that a shot, but for spriting I like to use MS Paint just because of its simplicity and I'm not sure that technique would work there.

I just wish it could save transparency. I can't believe even the most modern version can't save an image with transparency.

One thing you can do is choose to use transparency when you do the select tool.
Even works with free form selection.

Yeah, but that's not real transparency, that just treats pure white as transparent. The image won't have transparency when it's saved.
