COMMISSION for Quick Backstory:
After getting hit by an Angel attempting to restore Earth to a pastoral state, Rei and Asuka emerge from their Evas transformed into a pair of sexy mischievous fairies.

that we agree have wing is cool and all but the Problem with butterfly wings is how the hell do you sleep with out risk of damaging them not including things they smack into and how the hell to sit in a chair with out risk.

Faerie wings only look like butterfly wings.Β Each wing is a highly intricate biological structure of nerve, muscle, vasculature, epithelium, and connective tissue, evolved to sustain the weight of the faerie in flight and dynamically adjust its shape to produce lift and thrust.Β That said, here's a rundown of your questions...
The nerves are quite resilient, and there is redundant vasculature.Β If a fae slept on them wrong or sat on them wrong, it would be uncomfortable rather than damaging...similar to an arm or leg falling asleep.Β To avoid this, there are varying ways fae deal with their wings...one of the simplest ways is to fold them out of the way.Β Magic can also be used.Β These generally solve the problems of sleeping and chairs.
As far as "smacking into things," yeah, a particularly clumsy fae can have some bad collisions.Β However, grazing or drifting too close to something usually results in the faerie "jerking away" from the offending object in a reflex action.

He is right. The wings are far tougher than they appear. They are also able to be folded Gargoyle style to form a cloak when sleeping, not to mention potential to double as warm blanket. Even then most fairies are side sleepers, and enjoy snuggling up with a nice soft warm body to rest.
Like human limbs, fairies have an innate sense of their body shape, wingspan and where their body is, still accidents can happen. Well, maybe not accidents depending on the object and how mischievous the fairy is feeling.
They are also far stronger than they appear (see Ant Man). What appears to be the remnants of their Plug suits are actually the colored parts of an insect like exo-skeleton. The surriving lab techs think their so called magic is either applied telepathy, telekensis, and maybe pyrokenetic manipulation,Β manipulation of their AT fields. or maybe just hallucinations from that sparkling natural dust they seem to shed. They planned to ask Dr. Akage to investigate, but all they got was some mysterious yowling and comments about going to "catch that red fairy" when they last checked with her.
