Captain Meloi Gale. A mix of watercolor, gouache and digital on toned paper. I rarely get so inspired by a book that I want to draw something from it. For free. Just because I wanted to. And just because I wanted to mess around with some new paper stock. This is Capt. Meloi Gale from the Mennick Thorn series by Patrick Semphire. I will link the first book, Shadow of a Dead God below. She is an awesome supporting character in the book. Loved the 2 books out so far. Funny, great pacing, awesome magic "system" and a main character that is loveable and funny and runs into trouble time and time again. Definitely Detective Noir meets Lankhmar vibe going on.Anyway, I wil stop babbling and get to the point. I did a timelapse video of my drawing/painting of Capt. Gale here. She goes through both traditional painting, watercolor and then gouache and a bit of a digital touchup. See where I goof on the very last line (my signature of all things)!
