Description
Finally finished my first art doll!!! This was such a joy and such a horror. I learned a lot the hard way.
This is a birthday gift for my Mother, I'm not really satisfied with it's quality but it holds a lot of significance, so it is special. This was also supposed to be an adorable stumpy kitten but it didn't want to be one I guess haha. I think I will make a set of kittens after I've had more experience. I still want to give my Mom two kittens that can be posed together.

This cat is unfortunately barely poseable... I used doubled up 20 gauge wire which is not strong enough to hold against the quilt batting and leather. The eyes also look a bit strange because I globbed the paint sealer onto the eyes hoping it'd make it more glossy but it didn't... lol Don't do that~ I had to repaint this piece 3 times... Used the wrong kind of sealer. That ended horribly. Two of the feet and an ear also fell off because I didn't double up the wire at those joints, I really don't know what I was thinking. I found an easy way to glue the seams together but I was so afraid of getting hot glue all over the fur that I didn't make them tight enough. I covered most of it up by glueing extra tufts of fur but also made more messes by doing so... I had to keep fixing my fixes, it sucked.

Whiskers are paint brush bristles
Quilt batting insides
Rabbit fur exterior- Home tanned rabbit fur, from rabbits I lovingly raised myself.
Collar is an elastic headband with an acrylic gem glued into a Sculpey made base

Piece is signed and numbered.
