Description So my first art show on Saturday went well, it was fun but I did not sell any dolls. Most of the people came into the store just to buy coffee and they tried hard not to look at me or the dolls on the table.    So the dolls will be for sale on Etsy!...as soon as I open my store... Reading a Dummy's Guide to Etsy and so far it's really confusing me. I need to send separate payment to Etsy for taxes only if someone in my state buys from my shop? Something like that. I'll figure it out, hopefully this week. Is it just me or does every year get even more busy than the last? This has been one roller coaster of a year and it's not over yet!

Awww, they're all so amazing! I can't believe no one looked to boy them - if I walked in and saw any of those, I would have rushed over to look xD
I'm sure you'll sell them eventually :3

It might have been because the store does an artist feature every saturday, and the people who came in had preconceptions of crazy expensive art. I'll have to try doing an art show some place else and see how that goes. (: Thank you! xD I'm sure they will sell on etsy since people go there for just that kind of thing. (:

oh wow now seeing all your dolls here in one picture definitely shows how varied your talent is XD Everything from small to medium sized dolls (or do these all count as small?) and a great sample of colors too~ Its funny how the one on the far right is sitting up like that lol

Hang in there in trying to figure out all that etsy stuff I know how busy things can get especially with november already upon us and december fast approaching O__O;; Its just gonna get more busy from here ;-; lol

xD My sister was talking about that too, she was amazed at the level of improvement in each doll. I really don't know, to some artists that would be a small doll, but for me it's medium. The chinchilla looks best sitting up like that in my opinion. xD

Yeah.. I hope this will be a really lax holiday season I. need. a. break. At least my family is really on board, encouraging me and telling me I don't need to worry or stress about getting my career up and going NOW. I really want to get things done sooner but I'm only human. lol

(Thanks stolen-foxes  for the mention, I'm so honored!! - And yes to all that if you do sign up with Etsy, that code will give you and me free listings so feel free to use & share, it's a great program)

How cool! I haven't opened a store yet but I did make an account which I guess counts as opening a shop because it told me I did. O_o Thanks anyways! Haha.

Sometimes you just gotta jump right into it. I felt that way about opening up a Pay pal account and learning how to invoice people. Paypal and Etsy WANT you to open accounts with them, so they are usually good at fielding Newbie questions.

Yeah I noticed Etsy has a lot of guides and help sections. (: I just need to find some time to sit down and read!

This might not be your 'cup of tea' but I listed my gray fox on EBay because it was so easy.  The trade-off is that they get 9% of my profit. Its such a gamble, too. The bidding on  her has exceeded my 'buy it now' price so I'm finally able to relax about it.

I actually want to use ebay once I have some sales and recognition under my name. Then I can auction off the really special dolls. My biggest reason for choosing Etsy is the targeted market, people looking for hand made goodies go there.

I agree. A lot of people do both EBay and Etsy. I wonder how they make sure they don't sell an item twice if that item is listed in both places? Anyway, EBay does take a 9% cut of the profits! This is somewhat off-set by the fact that you can print a shipping label for the sold item right there on EBay. You can also buy postage right there, too, and at a discount.

I wouldn't list an item in both stores, thats just asking for trouble. lol Oh wow that is nice!

What a fantastic picture! I do not like this 'Etsy' news! If my gray fox does not sell here, I am planning on getting an Etsy account. Someone recently did a DA post saying that if someone gets an Etsy account and mentions her name, then both parties get to list 40 objects for free for one month. I'll try to scare up her DA user name for you (and for me). I figure that if I do mention her name maybe she'll give me free Etsy information and advice! It can't be too difficult, right?
