Geoffrey spoke so suddenly that Osbern flinched. The knight’s voice sounded as it never had before—usually he spoke with a flat tone, no emotion. This time that safeguard fell away, revealing a tremor in the man’s voice that gave Osbern chills. “But there’s something in me that needs feeding,” said Geoffrey, “and it is very, very hungry.”
