I love this concept! Creature concept and design is a major interest of mine. One of the things I look for in a creature is it's "believability". It doesn't have to be anatomically accurate and can certainly be stylized, but I really love it when the artist brings in elements to the creature that tell a story: how it hunts, how it lives, how intelligent it is or isn't, why it would have the colors it does, etc.
I think you did that here. As I studied it I could see that is more than likely an ambush predator, partly aquatic, but can traverse land terrain fairly adeptly and probably quicker than you would think. I love the bioluminescent parts and can see how that could help it get it's prey.
Even though it's just a standing side profile, it has a certain dynamism to it. I think it might the lines and values that pull that off. Not sure.
Creative and fun. You're an inspiration to me! Want to see more creature studies!
