Looks promising, got a couple of comments to hopefully help you:

* I think you need to anti-alias the text "simply the best", seeing as it is part of the logo and you dont really have aliased/clear text on a logo.
* Also, still on topic of the logo, i think you should align the "S" on "simply the best" with the "S" on "S-design", so that they line up. In other words move the "simply the best" typo about 8 pixels to the right. You should always try to line things off each-other in designs like this, makes things look a lot neater
* Think you should decrease the height of the nav, and lose the bevel effect. Bevel effects are so overused on the web now, 2D is back in fashion!.
* The text "home", i think you should lose the bold on it and shove it up a few pixels, just so it is separate from the line its currently on.

Anyway, with some proper content (e.g. images etc), i think it could look quite cool, even better done as a Flash site! Very simple, yet modern.

If you need any more help, let me know

If you have a look at "Flashkit" (www.flashkit.com), you should find literally thousands of tutorials and the like on Flash. It is really worth learning!

Thats much better.

The average user probably wont notice that you've gone to the effort to line things up, but it would be noticed more if you didnt line things up so its always worth it in the end. Lining things up also makes it easier for the actual build stage.

Still not sure about the navigation though, still seems a bit out of place i.e. it looks a bit too chunky and bright in colour for the style of design you've gone for. Might want to try a few things there, but be careful not to 'dull' the nav down too much since you still want it to stand out. Try doing Google searches for things like "website design awards" and see if you can see what others have done in similar situations. Also, check out "The FWA Awards", might find something useful there.

later,
James
