Description Kali/Durga

The shaktis of the gods emerged in female form. These goddesses fused together in blinding light from which arose a magnificent goddess with many arms. She was as beautiful as she was deadly. Durga was born fully-grown and is depicted as extremely beautiful and full of rage.

The gods called this goddess Durga, the invincible one, and they armed her with all their weapons. Thus armed, Durga rode to the top of a mountain on a lion. In a bloody battle, she defeated Mahish and his army of demons and thus saved the Universe from this demon’s menace.

Magnificent! Gorgeous! I'll run to tattoo this on me right now... Well, I would if I have enough money... Too bad.

Great work picturing Kali, goddess who I love. It's a very free interpretation of her, but It's a cool one.

Thanks, yeah in researchin godesses I discovered that there are genrally many interpretations and variations on thier stories depending on where you look, so not bieng a godess buff I tried to stay true to the over all spirit of the character but not get to into the smaller details. Thanks for the commentary

it's wood. Some cheap stuff I picked up at home depot. It takes an alchol transfer well, and cuse the paints I use are acrylic inks they need a surface they can seep into with out wowing.

oh this is fantastic work. The paint splatter texture really gave it that flavour that is so unique to indian tales. The explanation was really well done too. the piece made much more of an impact on me with the explanation there. Please keep posting
