Ugh I'm so stressed out right now because both DA and tumblr have changed their post setups and I can't DEAL with this right now and my brain is freaking out so much mehhhhhh.*deep breath*
Sorry, I want to post something intelligent and articulate, and after already being frustrated by the changes to my tumblr, I came over here and everything was different here, TOO and it was just...my brain was just all, 'nope. I'm out.'.
So.
Drawing a little longer a day. Been staying about an hour late to draw almost every work day and drawing a couple times during the day as well.
This came out a little...greener than I thought it would? I don't know. There are some things that aren't quite what I wanted...I started off going a little bit more stylized/comic-ish, but his nibs was havin' none of it and every time I tried to go back to my more angular, graphic sketch for reference, I ended up more...here. I don't know. I'll see how I feel about after a couple days away from it.
Anyway, as you can probably tell, I've been having fun playing with type lately. As long as I draw it myself.

I never watched Labyrinth as a kid. I actually discovered it on a Youtube video of the top ten creepiest kid movies (which Dumbo should NOT be part of!). Anyway, I finally watched the movie because of fanart of Sarah and Jareth. It wasn't as "romantic" as I thought it was, but I liked it (even though I'm glad I didn't watch it as a kid; I might have thought it was scary). I especially loved the ballroom scene. I think I have a love/hate relationship w/ the idea of Jareth and Sarah "in love." It's a romantic beauty-and-the-beast-ish idea, but she's what? 15, an age that I think isn't mature enough for a romantic relationship (unless you're a disney princess). Then again, that just depends on personal experience I guess. Still, he seems much older than her. Otherwise I would be all for it. Finally about your drawing: I like it

hahhaha! No, novel is fine. It is always interesting to get people's thoughts on these things. I have always loved the sarah/jareth relationship, but definitely think she IS too young and that he is ...a bit of a creeper.
My take on things is that he is a member of the fae race and they have that fascination with humans from time to time. I assume that, as a long-lived race, he's quite a BIT older -- probably centuries -- so to HIM, a year or two plus or minus in the life of a mortal isn't much. Plus he's seen ages in which 15 was a perfectly acceptable time for women to be married and begin having kids. But Sarah chooses not to go with him, despite her fascination with his glamorous beauty and mystery -- even if the girl she was at the START of the journey was naive enough to possibly make that choice (had her brother not been at stake), by the end she has, ironically, matured enough to know that she's not buying what Jareth is selling -- at least not now. I've read plenty of fics in which they are reunited later in her life and things go differently, but right now she knows that, as much fun as running away to a fairytale SOUNDS when she reads it in a book, that's not something that is smart to do.

Oh I just LOVE Sarah's character development in the story.
I mean, Labyrinth is REALLY a story about a young girl growing up. She goes from being a somewhat self-involved teen (as is normal and natural in a teenager) to really growing up into a young woman as a result of the trials she faces.

However, as the fey are known for spiriting away children, I don't think they really see human lifespans in the way that humans do. Also they don't really have the same kind of morality. Not saying pedo stalking is okay, just that I don't know if the goblin king's obsession really counts.

This is so beautiful! I love things like this that tell a story and this does that perfectly. The drawing itself is so expressive, you almost don't need the words on the tree. I love the quote though and the stylized way it's written. Very nicely done!

I am also very much upset with Tumblr's new posting/editing thing! I've gotten pretty used to DA's changes though I can't fathom why the heck they still don't allow you to easily insert text links into deviations! Argh!

I actually am hating the tumblr changes a little less now, as they seem to be starting to address a lot of the things people were complaining about, which is good. Although, even though they made it so you can add an image to a reblog now, they still don't let you upload a photo, and I'm all, do you guys even REALIZE I have a giant folder of reaction GIFs that you aren't letting me use?
But I still feel like this update was kind of annoying and unnecessary...pretty much everyone immediately hated it.
