Description Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of love, Her husband Horus, and Their child, Ihy, the god of the jubilation from the sound of the sistrum (the rattle He holds in His hand) In Dendera (Hathor's city), Ihy is called Ihy, in Edfu (Horus' city) He is called Heru-sema-Tawy (Horus, Uniter of the Two Lands).
Every year there was a festival where the temple image of Hathor would be taken on an elaborate boat-like litter, carried by priests, from Dendera to Edfu so She could visit Her husband.

I've wanted to do this picture for a long time, but never got to it. The wonderful and lovely was a HUGE help in designing this picture, and capturing the emotion I wanted to show in this happy family of gods.
Without her knowledge of anatomy, her posing for me, her understanding of children, and her emotional awareness, this drawing, down to Ihy sucking on his sistrum-rattle, would not have been possible. Thank you, , and thank you, Gods.

*Note: Yes,Ihy is naked. Egyptian children went about naked, and Egyptian child-gods are consistently portrayed naked. Therefore, I try to remain faithful to Egyptian iconography, seeing that faithfulness as respect to the gods.
If you consider this a problem, please practice restraint, and navigate away from the picture. I apologize for the tone, but I've heard of too many immature and repressed people throwing hissy fits over simple nudity. Thank you.

This answers my previous question regarding Ihy.. So if the majority of Hathor's history is all mixed up and even as a direct channel, I cant find much regarding her stories written[Hathor with Thoth/, Horus/Ihy].. where did you come up with such accurate information? I do recall Ihy being rarely clothed back then, except an anklet and dusty feet from the sands.. such a sweet child singing beautiful songs to himself.. So Precious ♪

Thank you for creating this beautiful photo and all of your work sharing important information..
Divine Honors to Hathor~ Akhet KA Athyr Em Hotep!! ♥ ☥ ♥

I've gotten all my information from books, mostly. The reason her history seems mixed up is because the religion of Egypt varied regionally. Each cult center had its own take on things. It reminds me a little of the different schools/sects of Hinduism, where one group reveres Vishnu as the supreme god, and another does the same for Shiva, and another does the same for Shakti, and so forth.

In Iunet (now called Dendera), Hathor's cult center, she was linked with Horus the Elder (Har-Wer/Heru-Wer/Heru-Ur/Haroeris)and their child was Ihy. In Khemenu/Hermopolis (now called El-Ashmunein), the goddess Nehemtawy (identified with Hathor) was paired with Thoth, who was the god of Khemenu/Hermopolis (The latter is the Greek name of the place, so called because the Greeks identified Thoth with their god Hermes, hence "City of (the Egyptian god Thoth who is called) Hermes".

If you are interested in the festival I mentioned, it is called "Festival of the Beautiful Reunion" or "Beautiful Feast of the Reunion" (there seem to be different variations on the translation).

Wow that resonates immensely, thank you for all your work! Yes I see what you mean.. it was also that a differing story would be told from temple to temple, which complicated things.. as well as in the Kemetic religion, they named 'months' of the year after Gods of the Pantheon too.. and there were the annual reenactments, that are also depicted.. But I am curious when during the year, does this festival occur?

also Hathor is known as the mother of Horus[Hathor's name means 'house of Horus'] so why was it ever confused as Isis's child? Anubis as well..?

The festival occurred during the 3rd month of the season of Shomu, the dry season.

Hathor's roles have changed through the thousands of years of Egyptian history, and in later times, Hathor's roles and iconography have been absorbed into those of Isis, such that in many depictions of a sun-and-horn-crowned goddess, one cannot tell whether it was Hathor or Isis unless one read the accompanying hieroglyphic text.

Indeed and I feel this absorption was Intended, but unfortunate and shifting through Awareness of Truth.. as one who is psychically connected to the stories as they really happened, know the difference and her attributes are certainly not considered absorbed in my Eyes.. ♥

Her history was hard for others to accurately document, but I have many of her stories within.. especially regarding Pepi I and the birthday necklace, as well as the precious song he sang for her [that was rudely interrupted by others ugly projections].. the beautiful night w/ Osiris.. Hatsheput's relationship w/ her.. Hearing Ihy's songs.. Stories of THOTH teaching in the desert with a black mysterious bird that finally ate out of my hand.. what happened to her when she was 14, and the reason she was known to 'runaway' so often.. [Ascending the Vertex of Geb] and the ancient earth ceremonies with Bes.. how she even arrived in Egypt etcetc.. and noone can erase these stories! ~♥ ☥ ♥~

Wow. I love the detail. And Horus looks exceptionally good.
The proportions on Hathor are a bit off (her legs need to be straighter and her ribcage would come down below her breasts) but apart from that this looks really good. Ihy looks really cute.
Great work. xxx

Thanks for the comment and crit. Hathor was tricky. I don't usually draw artwork like this (my usual stuff is often 3/4 or front, without any particular pose, as my drawings tend to be concepts for characters and creatures, where it's just showing what they look like.) Horus was easier because he wasn't holding a toddler on his hip.

Well done, dude. I am loving the details. Horus especially looks great. His face and clothing is excellent. Lovely details all around, though. Good job on Horus and the baby as well.

Thank you. I had to depart from typical Egyptian artistic convention for Horus' eyes, so I could convey that he was looking at his wife. And I think you meant "Hathor" for the second mention of "Horus".
