Unfortunately, equality and free speech cannot co-exist happily, because one will always end up hammering the other at some point.

True, it just frustrates me that people abuse free speech in a way that causes others pain and suffering.
I'm very happy that the idea of free speech exists don't get me wrong, I just don't see why people can't be considerate with the way that they voice their opinions and free speech or not this gives no excuse for bullying of any sort

I recently heard a quote from Stephen Fry that talks about free speech in the form of people being offended by something someone says or does.
"It's now very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights; it's actually nothing more... it's a simple whine. It's no more than a whine. 'I find that offensive,' it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that,' well so fucking what?"

Maybe so, but when the comments are deliberately directed at a person in order to make them feel shitty, that in my eyes in unfair and unjust, but that's just my opinion

Yeah, when it's a direct verbal attack that's bad, or if someone is deliberately stirring up hatred. But in the case where someone tells a joke or something along those lines, then what Fry said applies.

They say that freedom is a double-edged sword. When people have the freedom to express their opinions, it means others on the right-wing have the freedom to express theirs.
