Description Okay, I felt this stamp wouldn't be out of place. You may wonder what I mean by this, and it is simple. It's about those people who actually care about which fictional character fucks which fictional character.

Alright, I enjoy male slash. No secret. I have a lot of pairings I enjoy because I think their personalities work or even just because they look aesthetically pleasing together. I go to some communities to read fanfiction or see fanart of my favourite pairings. Sometimes, rarely, I might even contribute. Countless others do this. I don't see any problem.

What I do see a problem with are the people who seem to think pairings are something anyone should treat seriously.

There are two kinds. You have the people who ship some random couple and will fight to the death for it, flame people who like other pairings, draw other characters getting mauled because there's another popular pairing involving one side of their OTP and said character, etc. Those are annoying enough.

Then you have the people who somehow feel that a drawing of two male characters kissing has RUINED THE SHOW FOR THEM and the artist should GET A KNIFE SHOVED DOWN THEIR THROAT because they made their favourite characters into FAGGOOOOOTS. These are more annoying, and I don't think I'll ever understand them. Why would your enjoyment of a show be hindered by someone's silly picture ?_? is it really worth saying things like 'please, just no' or that this kind of thing makes you 'lose faith in humanity'? Aren't you taking this a little too seriously? It's about the relationships of people who don't exist.

I've seen fanfictions of shows like Will&Grace where Will or Jack were paired with girls. I think it's an alright show. Despite having seen that these stories exist, I didn't write a flame to the author. I didn't stop watching the show or cry while slowly cutting myself because you have to have a completely warped perception of importance to give half a damn about this kind of thing. I just didn't read the story.

I personally like House/Wilson, for instance. It's not canon, even though some writers like the pairing. Plenty of people like House/Cuddy or other kinds of slash pairings. There are about as many retards in any fandom of House (there was a big fight between House/Cameron and House/Wilson at some point and it was all very silly) and I think this seriously impairs everyone's enjoyment of their respective pairing.

So, tl;dr: If you enjoy your pairings in peace and quiet and let others do the same we'll all be much happier in our respective fluffy, lovely silliness.

Thank you. Finally someone who gets it. I mean I can understand not liking it when the picture is really graphic, but I would feel that way about any pairing slash or not. The thing that bugs me is when they freak out and are screaming "THOSE CHARACTERS AREN'T GAY!!!!" even though the characters are never given a canon sexuality they just assume their straight because they "don't act gay." Even when the character is obviously straight does it really matter? It's just a drawing/story. It's not like it will make a difference to the series. I honestly don't care who people like together. It can be the crackiest pairing ever and I just wouldn't care. Pairings don't have to be cannon or make sense it's all just for fun.

I agree! People should calm the hell about slash and just have fun. I like both Canon and Non-Canon equally, so I don't see why people cry over this. Most of the time, the creator doesn't give a crap what the fans do, just as long as someone has fun with the characters. A few artists I know even created doujinshi based on their actual series with many of their characters in unofficial pairings, so why does it matter?

Personally, I support very few pairings, most of which are canon. However, I don't see the point in getting so up tight about something that's fictional, plus they aren't even said persons characters in the first place and if the actual creators are fine with it then why shouldn't they pair them up with this character or that character? I used to get so asshurt over slash, thank god I changed, OOC still irks me a bit, but not much.

I must agree. I myself go by a strict 'make love not war' policy when it comes to shipping. It always makes me laugh when someone flips out on me for this pairing or that.

And besides, isn't one of the points about slash pairings is that even though it may not be generally accepted by other fans, you can still enjoy it for it's own sake? It seems highly hypocritcal to try and condemn someone for essentially doing the same thing as you.

KawaiiSpy [2011-11-16 11:30:54 +0000 UTC]

lol, TF2 fandom...nutshell. Er, one half of it at least.

People need to stop acting like if somebody dares pair up a character with another character that breaks your OTP, it's the end of the frickin' world. Or claim its more canon than others (or canon at all in some cases) when it's not.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

Suerte23 [2011-10-06 22:15:23 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree. I can't stand seeing people who say that it's disrespectful to the creator to ship anything but the canon or to play around with a character's sexuality. Shipping is all in good fun. It's not srs business. D:

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

Pan-Boleyn [2011-09-10 20:35:43 +0000 UTC]

I would use this stamp if I knew how to use stamps. Ships are fun, and I simply don't read the ones I absolutely hate. Those I just don't ship - and even some I usually dislike - I'll give a shot for the sake of a good story. But why would anyone want to waste their time getting angry because someone ships something else?

They say never talk about politics or religion. In fandom, sadly, never talk about shipping (unless you all ship the same) seems to be a rule too.

PhantomMagician [2011-08-16 22:30:11 +0000 UTC]

I second this, can I also second not taking fanfiction/fanart/fandom/television shows in general too seriously. I mean really people get way to attached to this stuff and then go over board. I know that I do get attached to characters but I don't go over board because I know it's all just supposed to be for fun.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StrangeWeirdo In reply to PhantomMagician [2011-09-14 19:02:05 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, there's people who get disturbingly attached to fictional characters. Not in a "I admire their principles" way, but in a "THEY ARE LITERALLY REAL AND WE ARE MARRIED" way and it's pretty creepy.
I mean I have some fictional characters I think are admirable but they're. Never going to meet me or see the fanart/fanfiction about them. So who cares.

House/Wilson? I can kind of see that one. XD I actually came across another stamp a while ago about C.O.D yaoi. The maker went off on it as if the art was some how making it into the game. he even put "The general against C.O.D yaoi" in his signature. It seems so many people don't know what rule 34 is anymore or how to have fun.

I don't mind old comment stuff and it's okay everyone blows their lid and makes an ass out of themselves over something. I've done it too. Actually, little bit of my comment might be that way as well. We all make mistakes it's how we learn.

Yeah, but I still feel like a little bit of a douche for overreacting about CoD slash. Now I just don't care, it's all fictional, right?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

MystressVulpes In reply to zombies-lost-my-keys [2012-01-03 00:40:50 +0000 UTC]

right and yeah I know that feeling it doesn't go away easily. Don't worry in the end you learned from it which is more than a lot of people do in their lives.

StrangeWeirdo In reply to MystressVulpes [2011-09-14 19:00:12 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I find that people in "manlier" fandoms (video games, especially FPS ones and such) are usually much worse about the whole "GAY FANART IS RUINING MY SERIES OH GOD", which I think is pretty funny. They could be spending all that time they use up by bitching on playing the game :v

MystressVulpes In reply to StrangeWeirdo [2011-09-14 20:48:40 +0000 UTC]

true, it just says "I'm not comfortable with my sexuality" to me. I usually just have a "eh" and move on when I see a pairing that weirds me out.

i dont get it either, i definately have my fave pairings, but just becuase im a spirk lover doesnt mean i wont read a little spock/ahura. im a female, and boys love is hott and all, but sometimes you need a little familiar ground lolzz.

Haha, I read and write/draw a ton of slash and non-cannon, but I've been surprisingly lucky so-far! When people get a bit agressive I just sort of tell them to chill and in the end we all have cake and tea or something and it works out.

Glad you like the stamp, haha c:

This is so refreshing, especially considering my recent pairing obsessions have made me want to hide in the corner so I won't get flamed. I hate how people get so obsessed with their so-called otp and decide that everyone else's pairings are wrong or distasteful. We all have a right to love what we want, and I'm so sick of people who decide that no, you really can't because groups like one that I found saying how disgusting AlicexTarrant is feel they have the authority to decide what is right or wrong in a certain fandom. I mean god, just because I like my slashy pairings doesn't mean I'm destroying what's canon, I just want to have some fun!! There are certain pairings that I really don't like, but I keep it to myself and let people have their fun and/or crack Mutual respect, people!! Anyway. enough of my ranting. this is awesome ^____^

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StrangeWeirdo In reply to FuneralForAFetus [2011-06-01 23:38:45 +0000 UTC]

I know how you feel, I used to be very 'omg :0' about some of the pairings I like, but as time went by I realized that I wasn't hurting anyone and that I wasn't the creepiest person out there by any stretch of the imagination (cough otakukin cough kawaii yaoi fangirls cough) so I mellowed out. IT'S PROVEN TO BE VERY HEALTHY and I'm a lot less bothered about fandom stuff now, haha.

Mutual respect is, I find, the key to enjoying oneself in fandoms. Glad you like the stamp!

Just been looking for a nice "I'm a slash fan, btw" like stamp for my journal, but all I found were bitchy "SLASH = EVIL! Fucking retarded fans of it, GDIAF!" and "Yeah, so I love Slash, deal with it, fucktard" stamps

... Except for yours.

Its brilliant and true. I mean, srsly, we're in fandom. Live and let live. Your kink might not be my kink, but that's ok.
What's so difficult about that?

Anyways, & use

I'm a huge pairing whore. I will slash almost anything and anyone. I will not deny this at all. Does this mean I don't respect "canon" or other fanon pairings? No. Everyone has their own tastes and I can respect that. There is absolutely no need to feel angry or insulted at someone because they don't like your OTP or whatever.

Honestly, aren't there bigger things we should be worried about?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StrangeWeirdo In reply to ReyahRayno [2011-05-01 13:22:36 +0000 UTC]

HousexWilson?
That's almost canon!

On a more serious note, I do have to agree with the stamp. Hell, some of my favourite pairings have a character from one in another. =/ Like my Adult!SonicxAdult!Cream and SonicxShadow loves.

StrangeWeirdo In reply to kari10101 [2010-12-18 21:03:06 +0000 UTC]

But it isn't...Oh well, at least the person House is paired with is likable.

Iยดm a huge Slash-fan myself. I know people who love the same pairings as I do and HATE people who DARE to pair one part of their OTPs with a girl..XD" Dammit. FTW?
And I literally mean they HATE those people.

I might be a weirdo , but I think that people who are obsessed about a fringe group (I hope I used the correct word Oo) shouldnยดt bully people who think different, or like different things XD
