. . . Lucario called, he wants his Mega Stone back . . . .The idea isn't as random as it seems: one of my characters actually has a very specific reason why/how he can go Mega using the 'wrong' Mega Stone. But the explanation behind that is ... complicated, so for now just enjoy the design.
Of course, the biggest question, what would a Mega Luxray be like in battle? I haven't given that much thought, actually, but some of the possibilities:
- Stat distribution: +Attack? +Sp.Atk? +Speed? Hmm, a Speed boost would definitely be welcome, but beyond that....
- Typing: Same?
- Abilities: Tough Claws? Strong Jaw? Defiant/Competitive? Lightningrod/Motor Drive?
Note that some of his design elements are still experimental and I may change them in future versions.

So, while this idea obviously isn't canon, the particular explanation I have behind it is based on something that is -- in Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire, Rayquaza can Mega Evolve without the need to explicitly equip a Mega Stone, presumably because he ate it (or something).
