We almost did not see the sun on our trip to Iceland

We had two days of sun. Personally I prefer it under cloud. The same in the highlands of Scotland

Im not sure yet, but hopefully september next year

LawrenceCornellPhoto In reply to streamweb [2018-10-14 18:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Ok. Well the midges will still be around in September
Not too bad on Skye but can be bad in the highlandsΒ
Also, hopefully the tourist season will have started to slow down
but it will still be busy.
I get excited just thinking about going. It's amazing there.Β
Im taking two people to Glencoe in May. Looking forward to that

You'll feel right at home then

Are you thinking of climbing Ben Nevis?Β
Great views from the top if you choose the right day

I dont think I will have time that trip.
It is not actually going to be a phototrip, but we are 5 childhood friends who are going on a whiskey trip celebrating that we are 40 years next year.
But i am planning to go a couple of days before the others, so i can spend those days photographing

What can one still say? This again is fantastic, Fredrik. I especially love the little waterfall, the top-rock-shadows and the colour of the light on the roof's plants. Grass is always so finely structured in your pictures, often nearly like hair.

Much welcome, as always.

A tiny thing struck me when the impression had sunken in a bit better: the contrast on the hut's very front could be (for me), a tiny bit lower. Just in this one photo. Maybe it's due to the tones of natural browns combined with white, and I remember what you said about exposure time and contrast, but the "character" of the hut in its surrounding would sink in even more if it was a little less hard. (This is what "my inside" says).

Apart from that, it's of course still great.Β

streamweb In reply to sannwald [2018-10-16 14:44:02 +0000 UTC]

I can agree that the contrast on the hut is on the limit.Β
The contrast of the whole shot is about the same, but I have added extra sharpness to the hut and the grass to make that an eye catcher.
In contrary to the background which I have softened just a bit.
But it is done with purpose. I seldom overdo the contrast and sharpness but on this particular shot i felt the added sharpness gave the hut some extra eerieness

Oh, I never doubted that you had reasons to do it the exact way you have done it and that you know what you're doing. It was just an onlooker's impact. I guess my heart said that a little less contrast on the front would add to the vulnerabiltiy, so to speak, of the man made hut in it's surrounding. Don't forget: I'm not asking you to alter any photo, I just have a tendency to a different interpretation here, as other picture's details took me that way. Β
