Description Inktober'18 #10

So last week I was watching the AVGN and Mike play an old GENESIS game "Shadow of the Beast"
(www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqW5O4… for any who want to check it out)
Now I had heard of the game before, but I had no idea what it was.
Although the 2 hosts in that video did not seem to think favorably of the game,
I thought that it's graphic and conceptual aesthetics were interesting enough for me to draw up a pic of it.
I had started this pic last week, but finished up for today.

Dunno if not drawing it from beginning-to-end in one day
will cause the Inktober purists to bombard me with some "InvasionOf TheBodySnatchers" finger pointing.
But meh, what the heck.

Depicted here is fight between the "Aarbron" game avatar and the 1st boss of the game.....
a big 2-headed-robot-skeleton-parade-float
(yes REALLY).
Although you play as a character that appears to be some kind of monster-man/beast-man,
Aarbron is not actually the beast that the game is named after.
Apparently, the "beast" of the game title refers to the giant final boss.
The final boss of this game is a beast so big that he can't appear on screen at all.
And is in fact just a giant foot.....you win by punching the big toe and THAT'S IT !!

When looking up references for this game....
I noticed that there were actually a few other video games with "shadow of the" in their titles.
"Shadow Of The Beast", "Shadow Of The Colossuss", Shadow Of The Tomb Raider".
Maybe next time I try to draw up a pic of:
"SHADOW OF THE COLOSSAL TOMB RAIDING ALTERED BEAST",
or maybe even a Disney-esque:
"BEAUTY AND THE SHADOW OF THE COLOSSAL TOMB RAIDING ALTERED BEAST" pic.

Anyway,
I found plenty of Google-search reference for Aarbron, but came across a rather odd problem.
As it happens, even though all the graphic images I saw clearly showed what he looks like,
the creature designs were so far out there, that I had a hard time interpreting them.
So after a lot of drawing and erasing over and over again,
But I finally came across a solution....
I just copped out by framing the pic a little more zoomed out to avoid any more character detail.

Since I had a problem with contemplating thought about what exactly it was,
that I was looking at when viewing all the Aarbron references.
I decided to also look up more SOTB references here on DA,
to see how any other artists may have depicted Aarbron's character.

I quickly discovered that my illustration here......
looked almost exactly like another existing pic here on DA:
  so apologies to  .
I guess next time I'd better look up references on DA 1st, so as to know what not to do.

Ink (of course) on regular paper with a little Photoshopping here & there.
