OH GOD! I just noticed that Tropy on one of your arts isΒ seriously wounded (yeah yeah, I know that at first sight it looks like that only his armor is broken but some broken parts can stuck in his body and etc.)! And despite that he seems suprisingly calm (but something tells me that his calm expression hides his anxiety)! That confuses me a bit (c'mon! He can be pissed off easily! Why now he's so calm?!)...

Tropy does get angry during confrontations, but when he's genuinely in trouble, I imagine that he'd switch to trying to hide his doubts and pretend his injuries aren't that bad. Tropy is very proud, and doesn't want to appear vulnerable to anybody. He goes through a range of emotions- irritated when first challenged, angered when challenged persistently, but when he's actually in serious trouble, he tries to switch to a calm, confident facade, which is an attempt to hide his doubt and pain, and convince others that he isn't done yet. This is only when he is very near defeat, or has been badly injured, in a high-stakes situation or crisis.
Tropy is only angry as long as he's convinced he's right, or that he'll win. When doubt creeps in, his anger is dispersed, and is replaced by anxiety, which he tries to hide with the facade of confidence. He tries to convince himself with his confidence too. He is essentially in denial at this point, he doesn't want to accept the inevitable defeat. But the longer he remains in denial, the worse the outcome is for him. This behaviour is a consequence of Tropy's overwhelming hubris- his drive to keep up his image, almost no matter what. He'll go to great lengths when his pride is on the line.
That's how I read Tropy, and what I think the natural extent of his previously established behaviour is. I'm reminded again, writing this, just how much fun it is to think about him >u>

Hmm.. Your analyses of characters are quite interesting. Are you a psychologist?
π: 0 β©: 1
Strixic In reply to SecretLightness [2015-01-27 11:17:46 +0000 UTC]
Nope! I have absolutely zero formal training in psychology or any field related to it whatsoever. I'm just very interested in it, and I've self-taught myself a lot, mostly so I can apply it to characters lmao. I'm also very self-analytical, self-reflective, so my creativity and interest in characters stems from that too. Charas are a great framing/reflective device for exploring psychology and emotions.

I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm jealous to people with such good ability to psychic analysis. I think that these people are better prepared for different situations.Β I'm creating a characters too but I'm bad at creating characteristics to them. Also I can trust a person which betrayed me few times.

Well, I don't know how to improve that. You said that creating OC's can help it. Am I right?

Strixic In reply to SecretLightness [2015-01-27 13:28:46 +0000 UTC]
Haha, well. Sorta. First, I got into analysing characters, then I moved onto thinking about my own psychology and other people's. Characters are a reflection of people, you have to know how people work before you can write really good characters.

Oh...my...god...Your artwork is truly AMAZING!!! I swear every time I come to your gallery I get more and more appealed by what I find, please keep up the good work! And another thing have you ever considered doing a Crash Bandicoot related comic series?

Strixic In reply to Bandiboy [2013-06-05 08:23:58 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! But MAN, you have no idea how much I've wrestled with that idea. I've been contemplating doing a comic for ages, and I've been setting out ideas, character stories, etc, lots of prep work but it is really hard to get to grips with the extent of what I want to do for Crash x_x
It's so difficult to get all the ideas right, and I've never been totally happy with any setups or plots I've come up with. I'm a stickler for getting it all right. And unfortunately, I'm still not quite there. Nevertheless, you can count on the fact that I'll keep contemplating it and working in the background. It's something I want to do, but don't hold your breath while waiting for something to materialise!
At this stage it is a bit up in the air. And I'm sorry I can't give a concrete answer yes or no to whether or not I'll do the project, especially because I have other personal projects to start. It's a MAYBE. And I don't want to get anyone's hopes too high. But I will at least keep uploading fanart here and there, for now.
I wish there was a way to make a Crash comic easier for me to put out but there isn't, really ^_^;

It's cool knowing that you've even considered the thought of a Crash Bandicoot comic, with your artistic skills and abilities will probably leave me SPEACHLESS. By the way i'm going to note you something else that I've been meaning to ask because I don't wanna clutter up your comment feed.

Um, I haven't received a note from you yet. Or haven't you sent one yet? I got the impression that you were going to send something promptly, and I'm paranoid that DA might have swallowed it if you tried. Note system seems to glitch all the time :/
Checking just in case~ If nothing's amiss then okay XD;

The coloring is super impressive! What markers did you use?
π: 0 β©: 1
Strixic In reply to NikolaiMcFist [2013-05-25 09:33:22 +0000 UTC]
I used Letraset Promarkers and Copic Ciao markers interchangeably. Primarily copics on the top left; the brush tips allow me to blend colour and control how much ink is being left on the page. I used two promarkers to shade the drawings of Tropy. I used both kinds of marker for the top right with Cortex.
