Yeah! After the sales success of the 2016 title I'm surprised another hasn't come out. It's true that they're busy with other games at the moment. I haven't super enjoyed any R&C releases for a while either, that's part of the reason I wonder if the series should change hands to someone with more inspiration and time for it >_>

Oh no, I would actually RATHER it be retired than see the IP in the hands of anyone other than Insomniac. I really do think no other developer would understand R&C and every individual aspect of it that makes it so great to the extent they, the creators, do. The creativity of the weapons and gadgets, the worlds, the specific brand of irreverent humor, it just wouldn't be the same.

Uhh, are you talking about them understanding classic Ratchet or Ratchet post-Deadlocked? Because they are two very different beasts. The identity of the series changed significantly in the leap to PS3
They may currently understand the Future games and new style of Ratchet better than anyone else but I think the understanding of the originals has been lost as the studio changed over the years. They are definitely not the same studio as they were in the early 00's
That's kinda why I wouldn't mind seeing someone else take a crack at it. See if they can recapture what I really loved R&C for in the first place, all those years ago. Future took R&C in a different direction when really, what I would've liked more was an evolution of everything R&C already was.

My problem is that R&C has become really stagnant in the hands of Insomniac and I haven't really been enjoying the gameplay that much either since the originals. Level design isn't as good, has annoying gimmicks, more impractical weaponry than practical, not enough platforming, etc.
It might be different in someone else's hands, but at the very least it might reinvigorate the series with new energy and ideas which it desperately needs at this point
Unless Inso have some banger new ideas and inspiration for the series and really want to do it, I'll still be a bit sceptical of a new game from them. I just get this weird feeling that the studio doesn't have enough collective energy for R&C anymore :/
