Oh, I've forgot about the ability stars; they're power-ups for the characters. Each of them have a very special power, some are helpful and some are, pffft, not much

Nightmare Phoeno's abilities:

Nightmare Tornado (makes him create a tornado and he'll push them right into the enemies)
Dark Soar (makes him soar into the enemies)
Shriek (makes him shriek loudly to stun enemies)
