I recently joined a Digimon Discord server and the people on the server really like my fan Digimon, which has given me a lot of encouragement to draw them and post them in the server! Therefore I've been doing some fan Digimon revamps as of late. Even though they're more sketchy than the art I usually post here, I will post them here since I'm probably not going to spend the time to refine the line art.

This is Zharmon, who was one of the characters in a Digimon fan fiction I tried writing in 2012. Vaccine attribute, fire element. She's based off the Firebird from Russian mythology, and then some other Russian bird and fire things.

Zharmon > Maryumon > Sirinmon > Perestroikyamon

With these revamps, I wanted to bring my designs more in line with the canon Digimon style, and thus I look to real official Digimon and draw details and designs from them. That's why Perestroikyamon has a Meramon-esque face. I think it makes the designs look more official, despite the off-beat concepts.

Perestroikyamon herself is based off of two Gorbachev-era Soviet Reforms: perestroikya which means "rebirth" and glasnost which means "transparency." I learned these words in AP Euro in 2011 and they stuck with me really hard and fast (unlikely anyone remembers but the former term is a running gag in Homestead Ghosts). When I came up with the concept for Perestroikyamon a while ago, I wanted it to be fiery and crystalline, since rebirth ties into the firebird/phoenix theme and crystals are transparent.

I'm working on a new line as we speak so when I'm done with it, I'll post it here too.
