Description This is a section of a my Morrowind Comic [link] that I liked so much I decided to cut it out and make it a deviation.

The character is called Hircine, a Daedra Lord (read: evil god), called "The God of the Hunt". The werewolves are his minions or "hounds" that do his bidding. In this case, they were supposed to kidnap a certain person and another certain person got in the way, so Hircine himself comes to fix the situation.

Hircine is owned by Bethesda Softworks and makes an appearance in Daggerfall, Morrowind's expansion Bloodmoon, and Oblivion. He may also appear in Arena in some form, but I haven't played it enough to know.

daedra are above good and evil. morally transcendent. you can do that as a god.

I've had a few years. I'm done with college now, and I'm finishing up a project that will prevent me from starving to death. It's on my list as soon as I'm done with that, three months tops, to start updating the comic again. It's going to take me a full year, at least, of updating at least once a week, to finish it.

I'm not a fan of leaving projects unfinished. But priorities have been such that I've needed to leave the Morrowind Comic sitting around for a while. I do intend to finish it, though. It's on my list and getting close to starting back up.

I always hated Hircine for not having the pants to fight to me with his whole power, but, apart from Sheogorath and Merhunes Dagon,he is quite awesome and scary XDD

Still,I prefer Sheogorath.He is mad,like me ^^

Also, the dremora lords are the most awesome beings in any game ever created, followed by the dwemer.

actually, i think hircine was only a neutral daedric lord that only intends to keep solstheim the way it is and to keep the tradition of the hunt.
i dunno. but looking at it and playing oblivion just stands out as that.
good job BTW. i like the art style

He is an evil god to the Nords and other races, but not by the Dunmer. They see him rather benefical(cuz Dunmer hate Nords).

But Dunmer hate almost everything that is not Dunmer, anyways XDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

-KT Khajiit Night Eye Toggle
-MM No Annoying Messages
-808 Better Water
-Vanity Camera Smoother
-Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul

I also have an auto-potion mod, because using potions got really annoying since the numbers are dynamic and if the numbers aren't the same they don't stack so you get like one or two per stack and 10 stacks and can't hotkey them.

Read what each of them do and try out the game without them to see if you want them. The auto-leveling system was really annoying, though. It destroyed a lot of the feeling of progress to the game. There are some mods that fix it differently than Obscuro so you'll end up encounternig Minotaurs ni the wilderness at level one -- which means RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, but can be fun if you like that.

So, I'm playing Oblivion, and already, JUST LIKE IN MORROWIND, I've noticed I spend the VAST majority of my traveling time outside at night. This isn't a good sign-I'm not even a vampire yet. Clearly, I will have to fix that if it's always going to be night when I'm gallabanting about anyhow.

I chose the Nightblade Class. In retrospect, I oughtn't have, but that's life. At least my Willpower will get up quickly. At the very least, it is precisely how I play (multi aggro=bad!)

I love the fact that Magicka regens now. It was the one thing I couldn't STAND in Morrowind (in spite of Morrowind's various issues, that was just... no.) Alchemy makes sense now too. I just need to find someone who can teach me Nighteye, and prefarbly access to the 100% customizable spells, but I might not be that lucky this go around. I don't like that I have more computer than the box suggests and it still runs poorly, though. Not terrible, not bad, but not good, y'know? There's a noticeable delay in things. I'm thinking about trying out low textures or something.

So far, while the tutorial is slightly annoying, I don't really mind. I'm sure my third of fourth character in and I'll be ready to kill whoever made it. So far... I don't see anything that *HAS* to be modded. I can think of things I want in, but nothing I see has to change.

At least, for now.

I've tried to make my Morrowind Comic as explanatory as possible so those that haven't played the game could still read it. I've failed miserably. Fortunately this image is just a random out-of-context cutout and even those that know the Bloodmoon storyline wouldn't have any hope of figuring out what it is out of context. Glad you like it!

That is great! You have a really good handle on anatomy, that's for sure! There is SO much going on in this picture, it must have taken forever!
I have one little suggestion - maybe you could make the highlights on his back blue since he's coming from something glowy and blue?
It looks great!

Stucken In reply to NycterisA [2006-05-11 20:49:50 +0000 UTC]

Make his back blue glowy? *cough* I actually tried that and realized I didn't have the first clue of how to do that. And I'd spent so much time on it already I didn't feel like spending even more time figuring it out. Yay lazy!

Thanks for the compliments! I've been studying and practicing anatomy, so I'm glad it's actually paying off.

...wow. Now that's a karmic bad day. You know you did something bad when Hircine himself shows up to settle stuff-a belief I maintain from having gotten through Bloodmoon.

On a related note, transforming back to normal 1/3 of the way through that fight? BAD TIMING.

...now I want to play Bloodmoon again...

I've been playing a bit of Bloodmoon to refresh my memory of the plot and such. Oblivion has so much more life than Morrowind it's amazing, but it still doesn't have werewolves.

Stucken In reply to LazarCotoron [2006-05-11 21:25:08 +0000 UTC]

Depends on who you talk to. I haven't played it in weeks, and I only played it about 100 hours total so far maybe. I've beaten it (took ~30 hours according to the save, but I barreled through and tried to beat it as fast as possible), so I've seen the whole storyline. I do believe it's worth buying, though. But there are a few mods that are must haves. In my 100 hours and going through the whole storyline I've explored maybe 15-20% of the entire game area, if that. And I get the feeling I haven't even done that percentage of the side quests.

I do enjoy the game, I've just been so busy I haven't been able to play it. I'd recommend you buy it, but know that it does have issues, most of it which can be fixed through mods.

LazarCotoron In reply to Stucken [2006-05-11 21:29:41 +0000 UTC]

Morrowind had issues that were both fixed and reated through mods! Engage the random instability engine!...or just launch Morrowind, same thing really.

I keep hearing mixed things, but what I haven't heard is the opinion of someone who decidedly LIKES the Elder Scrolls so they knew what they were getting into. Let's compare it to Morrowind (heck, I can go back to Redguard if we have to, although I'm not sure I count Redguard)-is it good in comparison there? If not better than, is it comparable to? Can I still play as an Argonian? (I have seen NOTHING on the playable races, so I'd like to know).

Good to hear from ya!

Oblivion is to Morrowind as Morrowind is to Daggerfall. The change is so enormous I'm not even sure you can properly compare the two. It's like going from 2D to 3D all over again. You can play as any of the 10 races, yes. That's a feature they've had in all games, and I'm not sure it's likely to change anytime soon. The world of Oblivion is huge and beautiful, the people actually have lives, and you want to love some, pity others, and just wring the necks of a few. Unlike Morrowind, I'd actually feel guilty if I tried to depopulate a town, and I'd probably leave half the people alive because I don't want them to die. Every piece of dialog is voice acted -- and there's very few screwups for how much dialog there is.

A lot of people have compared it to Fable. About as far as the comparison goes is that you get to use a sword to kill things, and... the things you can do are called "quests", though they match in name only... and you can own a house in every town... and... that's it. Not even owning a house works the same, it's just the fact that you can do it -- like you could in Daggerfall. The Fable world is entirely linear and is "area" based. The only "areas" Oblivion has is walking into cities or a dungeon. The world is one giant contiguous piece.

If you can spare the money to get it and the time to play it, it's a game I would recommend. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone -- my brother, for example, doesn't like games like that. But I believe you would enjoy it very much.
