Wait....Oh My God! I have a stupid theory... Ok so, The brown tabby is Cannon's mother and Saber is his father! Based on the comment below mine plus the colors used with the tabby that's how I got this.

it would merely be impossible. Canon’s mom died when he was literally maybe a moon or so old. He was literally just a baby. Saber wouldn’t have been able to meet canon’s mom because she’s dead way before slade is even created. Plus, their tabby markings are way different. Canon’s mother had at least three or four big stripes. This cat clearly has more stripes. And canon’s mother doesn’t have dark markings around her eyes. It was a good guess though ^^

i believe saber loved rain. But she was in love with (ash’s father) so he probably had a one night stand or some sort with this brown tabby. Ash’a father died by a dog as it is mentioned earlier in the comic I believe. So ash’s father asked saber to look after rain is anything happened to him.

That's Ash's father, there's one art of him and Rain, and it clearly says that they're Ash's parents. I guess that Saber has been in love with Rain but she hasn't known about it.
