Description This piece went through myriad changes before finally settling into this composition.  I am very pleased with how it turned out, although it looks nothing like I originally planned!

I really like the colours you used, they work together well. They also add to the happy mood of your work.

One thing I feel could be improved is the shading. You blended the colours into each other nicely, however, there seem to be no shadows or highlights (apart from the sparkles). If you have an idea where and what you want your main light source to be, you can add shadows accordingly - for example, if this is a scene at night, your main light source might be moonlight from above.
I'd also like to see a little more detail in her hair. Hair in motion does not stick together, even when it's wet; there's always a few strands of hair flying around sperately from the main mass of hair. A few examples to show (as showing alsways seems to be easier than telling, when trying to explain something ): Divine Intervention,   SlowMotion,   Make your own waves

All in all, it a good work with great colours and a very dynamic pose. Keep up the great work!

I'm still trying to figure out how to do shadows and highlights, so I'll continue to work on that.  Thanks for the awesome tips, and the examples really help!

this is a very beautiful little piece, she looks so happy and content

the color choice is very good and the blending in her tail is wonderful, the only thing i would like to see a bit more of is some more texture in the background, the lone color makes it feel a bit flat, the reflections at the bottom on the water are great but i just feel the whole picture is being eaten by a big vast plain background, which is a shame because all in all its a great little picture, well done

keep up the good work xXx

EDIT - the lone blue background really does work well, its only my personal choice and taste of what i would prefer to see

Thanks for the comments!  I was particularly interested in how people would see the background.  Originally, this picture had much more in the background, but I tried this version and my husband liked it better.  What do you think?  I've attached an earlier version of the drawing with the original background.

well, now i see it with background i actually prefer it without xD

like i said the lone blue does work well, i expected to want to see more .... but well there you go, it just proves sometimes less is more

its great!!
