A couple of months have dragged on since Tessa was hurt, and she's pretty much accepted that this is how she's going to stay. Try as she might, the therapists said that she's regained all that she's going to regain. She might improve over time, but objectively, she may never walk again.
It finally hit her. The therapy was not to help her get back to the way things were. It was to prepare her for the way things were going to be from now on, and it was a reality she was not yet ready to accept.
