It's the only breed of hamster I've ever owned (that'll be because I've only had one hamster... >>;} but I think they're lovely animals. They're so friendly, unlike other rodents of their size.

They're very clever and sweet. prone to tumours though... found that out the hard way

Awww, I hadn't been aware of that; probably because mine (and my friends'} have all lived really long, healthy lives, thankfully.
Most of the other animals I've had as pets have had tumors though, so maybe it's just pet breeding in general...
