Nicely done! Great anatomy on the shark (so many folks get them wrong) and awesome setting. :>

you did great with the colors. it's always hard for me to do color underwater (why you'll never see that in my gallery.)
i didn't even notice the ceolocanth the first time. that's a neat edition

Underwater is actually easier I think. You can mix the colors together and color outside the lines and it makes it look better!

Awesome work, Steve! I think this piece marks another big jump forward in your coloring skills! It just looks a lot more advanced than some of your other recent stuff! The lighting effect on the shark's back is excellent! Funny you should post this now... I just saw a bunch of those in person at Sea World last Saturday, no kiddin'!

This piece came together real fast. I guess when I'm under the gun I do some of my best work. Thanks for the encouragement. I love Sea World, but we skipped going this year because we went to Myrtle Beach for a week and I did not want to see what I would be sharing the waters with.

Haha, I can understand that!! Which reminds me, if you want a fun new video game, you should get "Jaws Unleashed". Imagine playing Grand Theft Auto in the Ocean and you get to play as the shark. Amazing and addictive.

I heard that game sucked horribly. It really is fun? I watched video of someone playing. They were trying to terrorize a guy in a boat and he never reacted to the fact a giant shark was trying to eat him, he just kept fishing no matter what happened. Then there was video of the shark racing along side a jet ski and the skier didn't seem to mind it one bit.

Oh believe me, they react very dramatically when you start attacking.

The more reviews I read the better it sounds. It sounds like hard core gamers hate it, but people just looking to waste time enjoy it quite a bit.

Sounds good to me. I remember playing Ecco the Dolphin and thinking it would be a whole lot more fun if you got to be the shark.

It's a video game where you get to play as a shark, swim around, and attack, eat, and destroy everything on screen. The people and animals bleed and scream when you get them. You can smash stuff with your nose or tail. On one part you get caught by Sea World and the challenge is to escape. You have to smash the underwater glass tunnel with all the tourists inside, then fight and kill Shamu. Then you are free to run wild in a huge ocean, where you can eat everything from other sharks to dolphins to sea turtles to sailboats. You can attack a beach and eat all the surfers and jet-skiers. Then the coast guard comes out on little boats and fire shotguns into the water at you. Then you get to fight them. When you catch people in your mouth they start screaming and thrashing, and you can actually jerk your head and throw them up in the air, catch them in your mouth, and chew them up again. It's amazing. There's no time limit, and as long as you keep eating, your health stays up and it keeps going. I don't know what other people think, but that's my idea of FUN! I have lost hours playing this crazy game.

Oh I forgot to add in the video where the shark was racing the jet skier it had a person in its mouth. It looked so silly that I almost bought it used for $10. Did you get GUN yet for the PS2? It is the last great game I got. A fun western shoot out.

you know what i think you nailed (no pun intended) is the reflections and shimmers of the water on the sharks body.
p.s. its shark week on discovery channel.

I have a picture of water ripples from our pool, I used it as a separate layer in Photoshop at about 15% opacity. I set the layer option to luminosity.
