Lol, that's cool, I thought it was a bee anyways...though I did notice right away that there was something wrong with its head . Anyways, it's a wonderful marco shot in any case. And I think it being a bee mimic just makes it more interesting at least.

To be honest, I've watched a lot of (honey) bees and they carry pollen sacs on their hind legs and their eyes are quite different to this one - so yes, I should have paid more attention to finding out what it is before shooting off my mouth!

Thanks again.

My mum is allergic to these little guys, but I find them fascinating. With spring in full bloom now, we are seeing a great many. Nicely captured

Many thanks, and it must be scary having an allergy like that - does she have to carry anti-venom around with her?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lilyamidthorns26 In reply to substar [2008-05-16 22:30:27 +0000 UTC]

You know, that is a good question I do not recall ever seeing her with any. I remember that at one point she had a bracelet alerting people she was allergic. I should ask her about the medication....

I DO remember the last time she was stung however
The family was on holiday at the time, and I will never forget all the paramedics and the tourists gathering around. Mum had gone to take one of my siblings to find a bathroom, and was stung while waiting as I recall. Her skin swelled and she felt faint and terribly ill almost immediately. The emergency personnel on scene surely gave her something to combat the venom, and thankfully, she recovered within a day or two......

Scary
